Gran trabajo de síntesis. Gracias por compartirlo.
Great insight into overlap between arts
I found the video insightful and fascinating. I have heard it said that in the days of aikido’s founding many who studied it came from solid backgrounds in other martial arts, for example, judo. It complemented and gave a breadth to what the martial artist already knew. This video keeps that tradition alive.
Absolute gold for the Aikidoka trying to expand their horizons!
I trained Aikido in Japan for nearly 10 years. When I came back to the States, the only “grappling” near me was BJJ. I, like many Aikido practitioners thought my training would apply in BJJ. Nah… But this is less a fault of Aikido and more of how they choose to train. This video adds in more pressure testing type of training to make your Aikido more practical. After 5 years of BJJ, I am finding that some of the core concepts of Aikido actually do apply in the real world. I loved this video!
Excellent
Great instructional, showing how Aikido can blend with other disciplines like BJJ and boxing. Highly recommended!
Useful For Aikido to BJJ Tranistion, and a little for BJJ guys wanting What works from Aikido
Great instruction. Lots of points covered.
Akido Extensions
excellent blend of aikido , and bjj
Gold
This is such an awesome instructional! I know that Aikido is one of the most ridiculed martial arts out there. Segal has made things even worse. However, Aikido is not devoid of useful techniques. They simply don't "stress train" anything, so it becomes nearly impossible to use in real life. Bruce adds basic combat sports ideology mixed with traditional Aikido techniques. The result is a more effective, usable system. Well done Mr. Bookman, I will be visiting your dojo next time I am in the area.
Great Information to Use in a Self-Defense Situation
Great way to take a traditional martial art and modify it so it can work against a **** who has any kind of knowledge in MMA.
Excellent
Best video I've seen on aikido with integrating other arts and realistic self-defense applications.
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging:Very good
Very good information from Bookman that blends well with BJJ.
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::+1::skin-tone-2:I was really curious
It’s interesting the blend of style… more useful for aikidokas than for grapplers
Will Blend Well With BJJ
Bookman, having the unique perspective of being a black belt in both aikido and BJJ gives him the base to surprisingly blend these two arts together. I’ve always been fascinated by these two distinctly different arts, so this instructional was both entertaining and insightful.
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::+1::skin-tone-2:Bridging the traditional methods to more realistic fight sutuations !
Aikido Extensions by Bruce Bookman applies the principles and fundamentals of Aikido in modern fight situations such as clinches, active strikers, and a few common grappling attacks performed at the present time. It is a contemporary approach to more realistic threats, proving that Aikido can still be effective today.
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::call_me_hand::skin-tone-2:Complete your jiu-jitsu games with an aikido expert
A realistic approach to aikido that fits very well with the techniques of jiu jitsu .
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::call_me_hand::skin-tone-2:Perfect Compliment with BJJ!
It's EXTREMELY COMPATIBLE with BJJ!
