thorough reference of all fundamentals
Great details and a step by step guide to the fundamentals.
When I started BJJ, I spent a lot of time looking for a solid fundamentals dvd set to supplement my in-class training. Ladies and gentlemen, this is it! Travis Stevens gives an orderly well thought out and complete system. Not only does he careful explain roughly two to three attacks, two to three sweeps, and several escapes and passes for each basic position, he start each section with a solid overview explaining the concepts going on. You will still need a class, teacher, and partners but this will help you learn the overall fundamentals of BJJ and help you retain what you learn in class. I also appreciate that Travis Stevens has a solid section on the stand up which is often lacking from fundamental courses. Excellent purchase, if I could only have one instructional, this is it!

Good content, good details, good structure. Travis Stevens is a master in simplifying complex stuff and brings it straight to the point.
Travis Stevens is a great instructor, good amount of detail for a beginner without begin overwhelming.
very good
Sensei Travis Stevens covers the fundamental techniques and setups for fundamental explained with crucial concepts behind. He covers all areas of jiu jitsu. Highly recommend!
This has helped alot already to give me direction as a white belt. Mr. Stevens is a clear communicator. I'll be using this instructional to base my (outside of class) learning on.
I have purchased several of the various fundamental instructional on BJJ Fanatics as I only attend class twice a week and wanted some options to supplement my training on off-days. For your money, I have to rate BJJ Basics by Travis Stevens as the best one. Travis Stevens not only covers all the basic positions, he start by explaining the fundamental concepts of what your goals are in a given position. Most other instructional focus on giving you a set of basic moves but don't go into teaching you the why behind what you are doing. Beginning to develop an understanding of the underlying concepts has drastically helped improve my BJJ practice. Travis Stevens is a John Danaher black belt and if you find his style of teaching useful I think you will get a lot out of this set. I have gotten a lot of value out of the other instructionals but if I had to pick only one for a desert island, this would be it!
Highly detailed and comprehensive instructional covering fundamentals from all positions. Highly recommend for white and blue belts.
Great overview. Wish I watched this when I first started
this is one the best i ever seen. a must have
great information simple and effective teaching strategy straight forward and to the point
very comprehensive.
Possibly the very best single instructional for white belts. I love the organization and teaching method. Will definitely rewatch and recommend.
I bought this instructional because I believe that you gotta have a solid foundation before you can move to more complex techniques. Worth the money! Thank you very much.
This is an awesome product. Travis is a comprehensive and enthusiastic teacher; the moves covered are probably everything to get to purple belt; and best of all remember...Travis is John Danaher's fastest promoted black belt. So you tell me...you think Travis picked up some good stuff? And oh by the way...Judo Olympian...I think he knows how to grapple in a GI in any situation better than most.
Learning from Travis Stevens, I trust him. Plus, he teaches the basic, fundamentals here pretty good. For someone specializes in takedowns (Judo style), he teaches Jiu-Jitsu pretty good here, for basics esp.
Another winner by Travis. Even though I’m a mid level blue belt the details that Travis shows to make the basic moves work is fantastic. Keep ‘em coming Travis. You’re #1 in my book.
