Adam is not only an accomplished athlete, he is also a good teacher and and a jiu-jitsu innovator. The butterfly guard has been around for a long time but if you think you cannot learn anything new, this instructional video will prove you wrong.

Adam provides great details to showing how he utilises Butterfly in an offensive manner by constantly unbalancing opponents. His grips that he shows are powerful and I appreciate that he links the attacks together for a comprehensive system a beginner can follow. His lazy butterfly is greatly explained and a great pit-stop that I use when I want to rest from butterfly (which I previously thought was impossible from butterfly!). Again he links attacks in Lazy BF together for an easy to follow system. I would've appreciated more comprehensive Single Leg X attacks as the ones he shows here are basic but effective. However he displays how to link BF into SLX efficiently and I've used this many times in my rolls. The biggest critique is that he doesn't show entries into BF. My BF is significantly more effective now but it's difficult to maintain when opponent stands. He doesn't show any counters to this. Overall very impressed and binging the techniques so I can drill in open mats!
Watch out wrestlers
As someone who likes to play the top game, I'm always wary to go up against someone who is really good at playing butterfly guard. Looking forward to leveling up my butterfly guard so I can start doing the same to some of the other wrestlers on the mats!

The level of mastery on display here is top-notch. The half butterfly guard material, or lazy butterfly as Adam calls it, has revolutionized my half guard game. Despite having a bit of an accident, Adam is easy to understand and explain things superbly. Now if I could just be as good as Adam is my life would be complete. But the main sweeps shown here are changing my game already. Great content, great price, excellent instructor.

If you look for Adam Warzinsky fights on YouTube, you’ll find that he sweeps every single opponent using the butterfly guard. Together with Marcelo Garcia, Adam is probably the highest authority on this guard in the world. In this instructional, he lays down a complete game plan around the butterfly guard, showing submissions, sweeps and back takes alike. Already a classic and a must have.

I got this video almost two years ago when i was a new white belt - too soon for my level of development. However, As a new blue belt I'm now able to benefit from the concepts and techniques. This helps me as a rooster weight when i go against larger opponents - in training and tournaments.

I went trough and studied this one thoroughly when I recived my purple belt and I really went to copy Adams game since it worked so well for me. I do feel I really use the guard mainly to sweep, like eevery sparring.. He shows great attacks aswell, but for me I seem to attack more from closed guard and side postition. Thanks Adam!

I always tried playing butterfly but only being taught the beginning basics made me bail on this position for the longest time plus being told that butterfly was for shorter people (i.e. Marcelo Garcia body type) but after seeing his highlights and watching this video I see how Adam makes it work for bigger/ taller bodies. I only wish I started watching him earlier. Cuz within a month or so I was already hitting these sweeps and subs on my more experienced training partners and comps I just can't wait to see what the future holds for me with this guard. I have branched on to all his other Butterfly videos and see how in depth this guard really is. This is such a good instructional for anyone wanting to learn this guard or anyone wanted to see how down the rabbit hole this guard can go.
