A broad coverage of useful material and include a sneaky foot lock.
This is an excellent instructional (Gi) by Mike Calimbas, who is a black belt and instructor at Renzo Gracie Lake Houston, Houston, Texas. The title of this instructional implies that it is focused on the Calimbas lock, which is a foot lock submission, which you apply when you are being controlled, however the content is much broader. I assume that when preparing to film this instructional Mike Calimbas focused on material that he thought would add value to the viewer’s skills from his own skillset. Material covered includes a volume on the closed guard bottom; almost a volume on the lasso guard; several chapters on half guard bottom; mount top; and the last volume teaches the Calimbas foot lock from back control, mount, and half guard. As appropriate to the material being taught, coverage includes sweeps and submissions. There are no notable issues with sound or video quality (e.g., range, focus, or lighting). The runtime for the instructional is 2 hours and four minutes. The Calimbas lock is interesting and from my experience works when appropriate opportunities arise, however in particular the content on closed guard and lasso guard is excellent. The techniques are effective, not difficult to learn and are reliable. In my opinion, as displayed in this instructional Mike Calimbas is a good teacher (e.g., logical flow, explanations and demonstrations) and he is easy to watch and learn from. For me, this was a good buy.

Prof Calimbas has been training for years, it’s great to finally get to learn from him on here. From world class photographer, to professional sub only Champ, Mike has won many opens and is a F2W veteran. He’s found a system to utilize positions most people wouldn’t consider advantageous. Highly recommend!
