Practical Capoeira for Gi BJJ
The sensei Guilherme presents his approach to teaching capoeira techniques without assuming prior knowledge, which makes the material very accessible. It’s especially interesting to see how he incorporates capoeira into his BJJ school. This instructional offers a very practical way to translate capoeira movements into gi BJJ. and it also covers takedowns not only ne-waza
Capoeira for BJJ
Some interesting ideas. Started with capoeira first. Can be hard to translate moves at first but this instructional provides a good starting point.
Capoiera is one of grass roots of BJJ in my opinion
It really correlates on guard passing & guard retention. It can help on your wrestling too, you just have to adjust a bit.
Awesome tool set
I used to practise Capoeira when I was a kid so it was easy to adapt the shown techniques in an instant. The basic movements and drills are well explained for beginners though and integrated step by step into a BJJ context throughout the course. I'd recommend this for all those who would like to improve their general agility and movement but also those who like to pull off some outside of the box techniques (both offesive and defensive) to common positions in BJJ. If you have a Capoeira background- this is a must have! Beginners should not hesitate though to look into this.
Innovative
A unique instructional with unorthodox techniques
Capoeira moves
Useful capoeira moves. Very interesting ideas. I will use it.
Capoeira for BJJ
Excellent instructional with a lot of takeaways to help with passing the guard and takedowns. Great to see other perspectives and ideas in doing some of the basic moves.
Excellent Introductory course
Wonderful to see how these two brazilian martial arts can be combined.
fascinating
fascinating
Fascinating (call me Spock =)
Fascinating blend of Capoeira with BJJ, allowing for some spectacular or unexpected attacks and evasions, I can't wait to try these with a partner
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging:Useful in other contexts as well
The majority of the techniques in this video can be applied in an MMA context with very little,if any, modification.Striking arts can benefit from this as well, the ginga stance in particular.Emanuel Augustus, who was a professional boxer, used a form of the ginga stance in his boxing career to decent success so some of this instructional can be used with some modification to striking arts. The ginga could confuse fighters who've never seen it before so it can be used to setup other techniques. I'm glad I purchased this to help support the author and his charity. I'm going to play around with some of these and see what I can come up with-hopefully Guilherme Santos creates a follow up to this.
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::call_me_hand::skin-tone-2:This changed the game for me!!
The mobility drills and dynamic guard passing sequences included in this instructional have been so useful!! Super motivating to see someone working as a professor of pharmacology and taking time to share knowledge with the broader jiu jitsu/capoeira community. OSSSSSS!
