  This is an under-rated yet highly effective study...especially great for an intermediate level player like myself. Highly recommended!!! FYI Site Administrators: the download buttons never seem to work in this video (only this one - the layout/format seems weird. I never have an issue downloading any other videos. • Brush up on fundamentals

  This is a nice way of revisiting some of the classic and fundamental techniques but from a strategic standpoint. There is a good amount of material about stopping the guard pass and maintaining control. There are some more complex guards towards the end of the video as well.

  On sale, I think I paid 10 or 15 bucks for this dvd! Great quick review of common guards--x, slx, dlr, closed, half, collar sleeve, spider--keeping in mind details against a large opponent. Michael gets right to the point without over-explaining, and provides interesting details regarding guard retention, as well as some sweeps and submissions (omoplata in particular.) If your gi guard sucks, do yourself a favor, and purchase this dvd.

• misleading... in a positive way!

  this is not a video for smaller, quick guys. it's for everybody. I trained with Micheal ages ago (at Saulo's... he was purple). he was a great teacher, and still is. I trust the person on the purchase, and he did not fail me. Just the wrong title, it's a must watch for everybody

• Playing Guard Against Big Guys-M. Liera

  I’m a big guy @ 205 and go against monsters in my gym 250+. I have already tested some of Professor Liera’s open guard techniques and I am able to retain my guard much longer and enjoy rolling much more since I’m not constantly getting my guard passed. I highly recommend this instructional. It’s great for all guard players. I never knew a strategy to play from open guard and this has put me on the correct path. Would be great if Pr. Michael went on tour to show these techniques in person!
