Very good
A very good, practical video for basic self defense. Highly recommended.
Excellent
Just the basic primer on self defense I was looking for! Well be working with my son on this material.
Excellent training for civilians
I have been in law enforcement for over 20 years. Every civilian should know how to do this.
jay wads
good contents. good instructor. just short in length. needs more content.
It's good all of this will work
BJJ/Grappling is not the only system I have studied. With that having been said all of this will work and is good, the only thing I noticed IMHO not enough focus on seizing and taking control of the right side of the body, especially, the hand. Otherwise IMHO learn all of this and adapt it, there may be better out their on the market in regards to subject matter , but there is definitely worse. This tutorial is great and definitely ranks up their with the best.
Excellent
Great info on how to take down and control another individual whether it is for the purposes of law enforcement or civilian self defense. Highly recommended.
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging:Great for basic self-defense
The two Jay Wadsworth self-defense instructionals I have are among the best in my collection. This is a no BS basics course that can save your butt in the street whether you are a law enforcement officer or a civilian.
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging:A Great Basic Self Defense Course
Wadsworth provides a great basic framework on how 5o properly defend yourself from the street **** looking to knock your block off. Great for self defense beginners or grapplers not used to training vs punches.
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging:Great!
This one is one of my favourites, just basic effective techniques and concepts explained and demonstrated nicely!
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::+1::skin-tone-2:Pretty good!
Easy to follow, clear instructionnal. I am a certified self defense instructor,a multi discipline black belt and a bjj brown belt. I liked it and should be learned by any untrained person for sure!
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::call_me_hand::skin-tone-2:Great for effective self defense against untrained opponents with minimal legal repercussions
I really liked this one. I would like to talk first about effectiveness and potential lethality. A lot of martial arts techniques are effective but possibly lethal. I've seen a lot of streetfight videos where somebody was slammed into the ground, cement or cobblestone, with very bad consequences. How would you fare in the eye of the law then? Hence it's very fortunate that Jay here shows moves that would have none or minimal harmful legal consequences. You can learn these moves and have them in mind in self defense against an untrained opponent. Jay also talks with precision and detail, his smooth, quick and efficient movements when not tied also show that he has martial arts knowledge beyond grappling as well. The moves are clearly meant for self defense, in one part he discussed standing up when forced to ground, and he showed a move (one from a few) that had its focus on getting up. It's a different mindset to bjj where the battle is on the ground and meant to stay on the ground. MMA does give the two options of either groundfighting or getting up, but Jay talks about the safety pov of fight or flight. The second part also had a part where he showed us how to free one's self when held against a wall of some sort, how often do you see that? You'd have to look up a dedicated MMA DVD. I find that he included it really awesome. P.S I'm not a bjj guy, I'm here for the grappling aspect of self defense. Self-defense in the ground and clinch ranges includes a trio of striking, grappling and weapons, and it's a treat when a DVD discusses all three. P.S.S bjj fanatics, can you make more mma dedicated grappling dvds? I'd appreciate more you guys.
