great details
Great instructional
Great addition to my guard. 💪
This is a great instructional and I think it undersells itself a bit. It’s really a complete closed guard system. Denny is an awesome instructor. He’s very clear and the techniques are powerful and easy to implement. This set is much better, easier to learn, and more powerful than many sets costing much more money. Highly recommend.
Three things: 1. The concept of locking the shoulder, or Danaher's "top lock" is so powerful yet so underutilized in my game. No more. I know working on this will get me to more armbar finishes. 2. Understanding the game of patience in the spiderweb will upgrade my armbar game. Mr. Peterson in "teach me grappling" has an awesome finishing series from "spiderweb" but there were some new details I loved seeing in this video. 3. The concept of continuing your attack when he stacks you from shoulder lock is invaluable Bonus idea- We all know how to position our legs for a proper triangle: his left arm is out, his right arm is in, your right leg cuts across his neck to start the triangle. I didnt know there I had heard of dead orchard, but didnt know it was a reverse triangle over the neck and that it would be so useful and immediately offer an attack of the locked arm. So left arm out, right arm in, LEFT leg goes across his neck and right leg over left, and attack the RIGHT arm bc the right shoulder is locked. Very cool.
So as Eddie Bravo put it himself, the rubber guard has grown so large and complex that even he doesn't know all the variations and styles of game. Well, the shoulder lock is one game you can play the rubber guard (among many), and it's a pretty good one. Denny Prokopos does a deep dive on the should should variation, and to my knowledge there isn't another instructional like it. I really liked the video.
Danny is a great teacher. He provides a full attack system from the guard.
Really solid stuff for guy who want an authentically active and attacking closed guard. This are lost concepts in modern BJJ.
Great details on a not-so-common position. From the ground up this instructional shows how to set up and execute multiple shoulder/arm locks as well as logical plan B's and C's. No stone left unturned in this game. All killer no filler!
