Indeed Dude Approved
I haven’t watched the whole tutorial yet. But I definitely agree with the dude approved stamp! Ann explains her techniques well and it’s easy to see how they flow together. I think things are explained well enough for a beginner to follow but she doesn’t get super deep like Danaher does, but gets deep enough to get you going for sure. From what I can tell these would be effective against a bigger opponent. I’m a decent size person so I’m looking to find extra large opponents to try these on. Very excited to watch the rest and learn more.
Guard Attacks
Lots of options for small guard players that work well for all sizes!
Choke Master
Great stuff! Using these details will allow small people to overcome brute strength with leverage. The choking techniques are amazing. If you are smaller than most of your opponents your ability to finish will increase dramatically!
A hidden gem
This series (even as a dude) has been a secret to understanding and approaching the guard with the mindset of a smaller opponent... AND its a real hidden gem as the Professor is a highly accomplished competitive black belt.
Great Details!
Simple and effective concepts for ALL skill levels.
good training
this is good knowledge for any size grappler
Useful for smaller persons
Well explained and with attention to details for common issues encountered in mixed size sparring. Should have used a bigger partner though.
Basic white belt course
I thought she was going to show us escapes that small women use. Instead she taught a beginners course. I’ll use this to teach my kid closed guard.
Good simple instructional
This is an effective instrucitonal thats easy to follow and implement in to your game. Great for beginners as well as having some nice details for higher grades.

Great fundamental lessons that work. Thanks!
We need more content like this!
I always try to get everything that helps me battle it out with the big boys in my gym. There’s no better teacher than a “tiny” master. The details are gold.
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging:Great content that tunes uo your closed guard game!
A. K. created a very smart series about an congruent closed guard game! First she shows how to get to closed guard from standing. Then she points out the value and how to get and maintain a deep cross colar grip. Second she shows some submissions and how they connect. Third she shos how to deal with the kneeling combat base in order to reguard and how to defend the kneeslice. Fourth she covers how to act if they force you to half guard given by maintain as well as attack from bottom half. Fifth she offers how to deal when you cannot break the opponent's posture at kneeling spot and what to do when your opponent lifts you up. The given guard sweeps are out of an x-gurd set up. Highly recommend!!!

Great techniques I can use, a few of them worked. I can’t remember all of them.
Solid techniques and useful insights
Objective of this instructional During the introduction Ann Kneib states that the instructional (Gi) covers concepts and techniques out of the closed guard including achieving the closed guard, guard maintenance, breaking the opponent’s posture, attacking after the opponent’s posture has been broken and the incorporation of information to assist a smaller person. In addition, two X guard sweeps are also included in this instructional. Content Volume 1 – Getting to and attacking from closed guard (34 minutes and 10 chapters, including one chapter for the introduction) covers: pulling guard from either standing or the knees; controlling the opponent’s posture and maintaining the collar grip; a modified collar choke (i.e. lever choke), which from my experience works and deals with the opponent attempting to block your second hand; obtaining the high guard, which involves locking your legs over the opponent’s shoulders; a triangle choke when you have the opponent in your high guard; and a shoulder lock or sweep when you have the opponent in your triangle position; and moving from the triangle position back to closed guard to attack with the lever choke. Volume 2 – Addressing the knee and knee slide (17 minutes and 4 chapters) covers: several techniques to deal with the situation where your closed guard has been broken and the opponent has one knee up, with the techniques focused on regaining the closed guard; and techniques for the situation where the opponent has started to do a knee slide pass with these techniques leading to either a half guard sweep or where the sweep is defended regaining the closed guard. Volume 3 – Addressing the half guard (19 minutes and 4 chapters) covers: a technique to respond to a situation where the opponent breaks your guard, stuffs one of your legs to move into your half guard, by moving directly into the knee shield position; a sweep from the knee shield position leaving you in the top half guard position or if they defend the sweep to regain the closed guard; and a sneaky choke from the knee shield position. Volume 4 – Unable to break the opponent’s posture forward (33 minutes and 9 chapters including the outtro) covers: dealing with an opponent who you cannot breakdown and where they posture vertically while on their knees by dropping to your feet in this position and walking them backwards so that you gain the mount; a back take alternative for the previous position; ankle sweeps (x2); techniques to deal with the opponent picking you up in the closed guard with one leading to a single leg takedown and the other you moving to an X guard; and two X guard sweeps. Ann Kneib speaks clearly and confidently. Her instructions are easy to understand. Techniques are repeated multiple times including instructions and one at full speed. Picture quality, range and sound are good and there are no issues in this regard. It is a basic setup with one fixed camera. Ann Kneib moves herself and her uke to provide different angles of view. The available preview clips are indicative of the whole instructional. As a general comment I think it is sensible when buying an instructional to think about the physical characteristics of the instructor (e.g., height, body type, age, strength, observed flexibility in the preview clips, etc) as this can influence the instructors use of and choice of techniques. A smaller player generally cannot rely on their strength or size (e.g., weight or limb length) to dominate a larger opponent and they must rely on their technique, leverage, movement, etc to overcome their negative strength differential. Ann Kneib is a great example of a smaller instructor who has developed skills to compensate for her size. That being said, I believe that this instructional is relevant and useful for people who are larger than Ann Kneib. In summary, if you are wishing to further develop your closed guard game regardless of your gender and learn some approaches to compensate for a size or strength differential, then I think this instructional will represent good value. I think that the content included is probably predominately suited for white and blue belts.
