Valentin has a solid pedigree in coaching methodology and is a skilled Greco competitor although this curriculum transcends other wrestling/grappling styles. The skills he teaches offer a shortcut to mastery in combining upper-body controls and lower body attacks. He uses solid control ties and resolves the takedowns with exposure (if you're a wrestler) or with good pinning position (if you're a wrestler or grappler). Solid series.

In my limited experience with point system wrestling, I think via BJJ and a lifetime of different striking arts I can see patterns just the same. I would imagine the people that buy these are seeking NEW information, and nothing is quite as frustrating as spending money and watching along thinking "teach me something". Valentin is a highly credentialed coach and clearly still a student of the game. For example as part of the front headlock series he even credits the origin of different approaches and which approach has value when. I don't think Sadulaev or Geduev are making DVD's anytime soon, so we go with what we know and have, and I find the Eastern Bloc type approach somewhat playful and whimsical, more focused on technique than cauliflower ears. For myself, the jab cross left hook into low kick is wonderful, but you need to know Ernesto Hoost (free plug) approach to that, and it shouldn't be mandatory on every striking DVD. You must learn the Dutchie from the Dutch, and Thai Boxing from the Thai's. Western Boxing in the west is where it all culminates, like all the aforementioned. I'd imagine everyone from the MMA coach to the collegiate hopeful could learn something here, excellent run of wrestling videos lately. This is highly recommended and packs a lot of information in a relatively small $ space.
