Sasaki-san has one of the most aggressive, attacking, ferocious, blitzkrieg, and technical styles of Judo I've ever seen. I've seen him compete in person years ago and was blown away. So naturally, when I found his video on BJJ Fanatics (by accident), I purchased it instantly. I am 100% satisfied with my purchase and I wish I had this 20 years ago (or more). I'm both a Judo and BJJ black belt, but Judo is my first love. We've all learned the "textbook" versions of Seoi Nage, Sode-Tsuri-*, etc-- and many of us have had limited or no success applying them in practice (shiai/competitions or randori). That's where Sensei fills in all the blanks that I (and others) have been missing that the high-level competitors know. He explains in a very clear way numerous gripping strategies, body movement, feints, grip breaks, crowding, kuzushi, footwork, and everything needed to make a throw actually work. On top of that, there are numerous crazy variations presented for each throw that many of us have never even seen in the dojo/academy-- many of the ones we've always wondered about when we see the high-level fighters at the international level competitions. There are all sorts of insane Seoi variations and setups, and likewise for Sode-Tsuri, and others. Sensei's ability to explain the concepts in an easy to understand way is greatly appreciated. He breaks down each move into steps that mere mortals can follow. It is true that he makes everything look easy-- and it isn't. But with all the details he provides it is achievable by most judoka willing to try. Not only is he a creative and successful competitor at the highest levels, but a great teacher that is able to transmit the knowledge to the rest of us. A hidden gem, in my opinion. For me personally, beyond all of the above, Sensei is roughly the same height and weight category as me. And he mentions numerous times how as a "short" person, or a person fighting a taller person, "this is what I do." I can totally relate and these are HUGE details that I've been missing for years (essentially, all opponents are bigger and heavier than me). He is also very candid and will say that such and such a technique doesn't work for him-- such as when he shows "textbook" O-uchi-gari. He says it doesn't work for him, and he shows a number of amazing options that indeed DO work. It is hard to pick any favorite technique or part of the series because it is just chock-full of gold. Seoi-Nage, Sode-Tsuri-*, and Ashi-guruma are among my tokui-wazas (favorite techniques), so I found these parts extremely interesting and filling in many blanks. Moreover, he shows a technique that I've never seen explained before-- something I've affectionately called the "Kashiwazaki" since that is the first time I saw it (1981 World Championships). It is a super dynamic Kouchi feint to Yoko-tomoe-nage. He demonstrates this once mysterious move beautifully. In short, there is something for everyone, regardless of your favorite technique. If you've watched dozens or hundreds of high-level matches for fun, and yet were puzzled at what on earth they were doing, this video will answer many of your questions. It is hard to describe, but Sensei looks like a machine when performing techniques. He is absolutely precise, sharp, technical, and aggressive all at the same time. I can't say enough positive about this series, and it just fills in so many details that were not available to me in my dojos over the years. He has great energy and positivity. Watching him apply his techniques full speed makes me want to jump out of my chair. I envy the students who get to train with him at his dojo/academy. Whether you are a judoka or BJJ practitioner, you will acquire the grips, kuzushi (off balancing), footwork, and aggressive attitude to take your "takedowns" to the next level and beyond. Bravo Sasaki-san on an amazing series and to BJJ Fanatics for making it available!

Very good video quality and detailed explanations. If you want control stand up game and throws in Judo/BJJ I advise you to buy this series.
