• Fundamentals to Advanced

  I have a bunch of body lock instructions, but only Shawn Williams takes the time to cover fundamentals like sagging, picking the knee up to counter sumi gaeshi, pummeling, and guillotine escapes. It's that attention to detail which characterizes all of his instructionals, and makes them true master classes. That being said, Williams has trouble just showing a move without explaining every relevant detail -many instructors hold off until the basics of the move have been shown-and that kind of informational overload can make it a bit hard to grasp the move as its being taught. But if the brilliant professor is a bit idiosyncratic then the student just needs to adapt, because this instructional is pure gold.

  I’ve watched all of the bodylock passing DVDs. This one is honestly the best one for my style. I’m a black belt but was a student of Shawn’s through purple belt and I honestly miss his teaching style. I just wish he continue to put out more materials because his concepts, explanation is the best I’ve seen.

• An encyclopedia on butterfly guard passing

  Shawn is detailed, but concise. I was expecting a pure bodylock instructional, but this is so much more. Shawn goes over a number of other passes as well and shows numerous ways to pass the butterfly and half butterfly guards. There is a lot of unique info I haven't seen anywhere else.
