For BJJ practitioners looking to improve their takedown skills and bring a Judo element to their game, this instructional is highly recommended.
This video gets into the physics of real kumi kata (grips). Shintaro explains very well and in an engaging fashion. How to fights rights and lefts. I have been able to show these techniques and explain how they work in my rolling with awe. Thanks so much.
Excellent. Covers the basics for the beginner, but enough detail to be useful for more advanced practitioners.
Judo is the prime example of hyper fixating on a specific game and becoming a master. Shintaro is a sage so everything he says here is pure gold.
Great content on Judo basics. Have utilized Higashi's techniques with success as an older BJJ student. Thanks for the excellent instructional and love the podcast as well!
Great in-depth intro to the fundamentals. Already working them into my game and seeing massive improvement in my stand-up
Shintaro does amazing job to teach these judo basics. Great value for money!

Shintaro knows how to teach, very clear and usefull
Sensei S.H. understands rhe art and the sport so well. He gives you essentials in depth. It is about grip fighting for both stances, off balancing and misdirection to eventually attacking with low risk and high percentage techniques. He ovvers a clear guidance of how to step and move to execute successfulky. His explanaitions are up to the point
From the very first section on basic gripping, I was immediately able to use more throws in live rounds than ever before. This instructional is a great return to basics for anyone trying to up their judo game.
I certainly learned something and so worth the price of admission, but ground is covered very quickly and found myself having to rewind a lot as there aren't many pauses ;)
I highly recommend if you want to improve your judo game.

Shintaro is one of the best in the game. His explanations and attention to detail is excellent. He has a wealth of information on youtube, but here he takes a deep dive. Well worth the investment.
Shintaro puts judo together like no one else. His instructionals are fun, easy to understand, and most importantly actually works.
An eyes-opener. Tons of standup details assumed known in judo class and instructionals
Precise and very informative.
Amazing stuff. Great content and easy to understand techniques. Concepts alone have changed my game.
Sensei Higashi is an excellent explainer. He discusses fundamental concepts and their applications clearly. I feel much more confident now in my stand-up game for jiu-jitsu.
Found Shintaro's YouTube channel trying to add options to my stand up game. His YT channel is excellent and this is a more in-depth continuation of top tier content.
Amazing instructional, cant wait for next video getting to combinations and detail of techiques.
I found when starting grappling that most of the judo instruction online was very focused on isolated, specific techniques and situations. It was hard for me to build a mental model of how judo worked in general. I struggled to understand what I should do after my opponents didn't let me get the perfect set up for these individual techniques I saw online Then I found Shintaro's youtube channel. He is a fantastic source to understand not only individual Judo techniques, but also the conceptual and fundamental elements of judo which help you understand the art in a more general sense. His instruction is helping me build a system of understanding what I should do, when, and why... making learning techniques and successfully applying them much easier. I was happy to buy this video even when his free youtube content is great. This is an excellent all in one package that goes above and beyond for a someone looking to start building a strong stand up game and speed up their growth in understanding and progressing Judo
