  A very thorough instructional on combat sambo. What sticks out is the amount of reps these guys do in their workouts to attain proficiency. It really reinforces that a lot of hard work and dedication is always needed to produce results.

• Basics

  I’ve only watched the first part. It has a lot of decent basics. There should have been a disclaimer though that to complete some of the moves you need another of their instructionals and I’m not entirely convinced after talking to an experienced judoka by the fancy foot work on that middle kick counter. The multiple angles are good though. The audio and instructions and translation are clear. The editing is decent.

  For a new BJJ guy like myself, this instructional ties in stand up striking and striking defense, along with excellent throws to blend with any ground game. Instantly one of my favorites. I especially appreciate how they stress how hundreds of reps must be utilized for proper motor memory in training, and this gives very a good guide as to how many reps are needed each session for combat proficiency.

  I’m a judo brown belt who hasn’t trained strikes in a dogs age. I bought this dvd with the intention on learning how to implement strikes into a grappling context. I love the striking entries into a clinch where I can work my throws. I intend on drilling these with my coach in self defense oriented classes.

• Russian working mentally, got to love it.

  Comparing this instruction to most others on this side I would call it more of a trainingssession than anything else. It doesn’t promise flashy secrets to revolutionise your game. It’s simple techniques with a recommended number of repetitions. I recommend the video wholeheartedly.
