Rarely does an instructor explain the secrets of grappling in a thorough and not boring way, from the start of the fight standing up to the corresponding submission. I recommend this Garry Tonon DVD to you because it is educational, instructive and very entertaining.
This product is line with all the videos coming out of Renzo Gracie Academy in New York. Garry Tonon is the most creative grappler when it comes to the interface between stand-up and ground work. His systematic approach gives you a whole protocol to start practicing these techniques and implementing them into your own game. I especially liked the volume on granby roll and the sections about the ashi slide. If you want to be ahead of the current metagame, you have to study these videos.
Amazing techniques, concepts and strategies on the art of 'wrestling directly to a submission' by the grandmaster of the art!
Great concepts clear understanding and teaching of the techniques.
Highly recommend! I'll be buying more from Garry Tonon. This instructional isn't just takedowns but how to go into submissions and many other topics.
Some really great techniques.
Great instructional! I’ve been looking to improve my standup and there were a lot of good details to setups and finishes of mat returns.
Garry’s lessons are awesome. His explanations actions are clear, and I highly recommend his videos.
Worth every penny!
Awesome instructional
Phenomenal content of the concepts and most effective techniques for the integration between standing and ground technique
Awsome!!! Great content!
Honestly this is amazing. Bjj needs more stand up and not just wrestling. This DVD teaches you how to wrestle in a BJJ rule set. It has a mix of takedowns from judo and wrestling, and throws in some unique perspectives. BUY this.
For me one of the best tutorials from one of the best grapplers! I can’t wait for the next content. Oss
I have many of the DVD's available here, and rarely do I get a dud, in fact I find something(s) useful in most, but this DVD series (8 FULL DVD's worth) is like taking private lessons from young Lion Garry Tonon for 10 hours, for ummm less than what it may cost.....significantly, if actual. This covers takedowns, to position to submission and never gets lost in itself. So much Danaher in him and Gordon now it's odd for an older lion like myself to hear GT say "my training partner" as though it's been drilled into function ;) Want to learn Japanese names for position(s) etc.? Check. New creative ideas and approaches to the transitional game? Check. I'm only half way through this and felt the need to send kudos and love to everyone from Bernardo, to Renzo, to the guy that helped make the DVD and doesn't speak, this is a phenomenal resource for the NoGi player. *DISCLAIMER* I met G Tonon at the RGA in Manhattan back in / around 2011-2012 when (I believe?) he was just promoted to Brown Belt. We are from the same lineage and have remained friends since. So, I may be partial, but even then I'm fair and honest.
Pew, pew, pew, it's a chopper. Pew, pew, pew, it's a .22
