Ton of high quality information. As a Gi half guard player I primarily focus on a high knee shield with the collar grip, but as he explains butterfly and sometimes low knee shield are better for nogi. He lays out a complete nogi half system with some guard retention. A great pairing with his seated guard instructional.
Gives you a detailed route to follow from one of the most common spots in the entire sport. Great stuff
Really helped me manipulate my opponents from half guard
Especially loved all the details about half-butterfly, head pinch and shoulder crunch. Seriously good DVD!
Great instructional! Half guard, and the variations there of have been a staple of my game for years now, but this really helped fill in some blind spots I had and gave me a number of new options that plugged right into what I was already doing.
Learning from the best, Gordon breaks down each movement perfectly for others to learn
Excellent
Well structured, clearly explained and instantly applicable. Effective and easy to apply concepts.
Gordon really is an excellent instructor and this is a top notch series. I appreciate the systematic approach as I tend to learn better from this method. I have a long way to go, but I am much more confident playing from half guard now that I’ve watched this series.
Rly good
This instructional really helps me improve my halfguard game(retentions, transitions, attacks) I like the way Gordon's teaching. So insightful.
I finally understand when to use half guard and different variations and why. Helped me understand the principles behind it all so much
OUUUU whatta game to play! But honestly great offensive guard systems with multiple options for the reactions your opponents give you.
quality instructional covering Gordon's half guard system, well worth watching as gordon has the best half guard there is , brilliant details on the butterfly half i have had plenty of success using this on the mats
I bought this instructional with a specific purpose: to improve my no-gi half guard game having trained predominantly in the gi so far. This instructional was perfect. It is conceptual but rich in techniques, and will give you lots of attacking options against aggressive and stalling top game players. My only reservation is that you may also need Gordon’s seated guard instructional to get the most out of this one, as some techniques are covered in greater detail there. Highly recommended nonetheless.
Great connection between half guard and seated.
Great for all levels in the sport!
Gordon goes into such detail it’s hard to preform the move wrong! This is a must get!
Gordon’s teaching is systematic and thorough!
Top notch instructional from Gordon. The devil is in the details.
Great instructional full of great techniques as well as a good amount of fundamentals. Will definitely improve most people’s games
w!
Just like his grappling record his instructional are second to none.
Very technical! Advanced with good instruction..
I play a lot from half guard and I think I have all of Gordon's instructionals so far. This has been my favorite one. I feel like I was already pretty good at playing from half guard, but I didn't really know why, my body just figured it out. This lead to me being pretty bad at teaching others because I didn't really understand why I was having success most of the time from half guard, but at some times it would be very difficult on some opponents. This instructional really opened my eyes into what exactly I was doing right and wrong and what to be looking for from this position. Definitely feel much more confident and competent in half guard now.
