Mikey has an incredible ability to communicate how to do this position. As he explains, he always gives you the "why" of the position, which aids immensely with having a comprehensive understanding of whatever position comes up. He's also comprehensive - he starts at the very beginning (double pull) and goes step by step to the end (taking the back), covering every variation he thought to cover. He gives drills to help with learning the steps (eg using just the legs to lift the opponent) to promote more efficient technique. Every step gets a clear explanation with tons of repetition. By the time you're done a berimbolo, which is a multi-step strange-looking process seems quite normal and logical, without any magic. Also awesome - he shows how to do the berimbolo with your forehead and not your neck. Or your shoulders and not your neck. There's other videos where guys teach maintaining guard and they use inversion - if you're old or injured, this may not be an option. I am old, weak and not very flexible, but even I can roll on my forehead and berimbolo someone, which is ridiculously fun. If nothing else, my grips will be better because I'll make sure to go bone-to-bone when I want to maintain space. The only thing I wish Mikey had was a review where he succinctly summarizes what you do in what situation. E.g. I have an instructor that breaks down things (because he can't talk English well) into 1, 2, 3 and 4. E.g. 1 - grab at the knee. 2 post and lift up. 3 push in and sweep the leg over. 4 let go pants, get underhook and pull into guard. Such mnemonics make it very easy to remember the steps and the details for each. Maybe I missed it, but at the end of this, I don't think there is a 1,2,3,4 that goes over the different steps. But - you've got a video, so you go over it and you write up the steps. This is an absolutely amazing video. Even if you're not going to bermibolo someone, there's so much stuff you can learn. Finally, Tammi deserves credit for being a great uge, although I wish she'd had a better mic so it wasn't so hard to hear her questions - they are usually very relevant.
Best berimbolo system you’ll ever find!
2 weeks into my Jiu Jitsu career I attended a Mikey and Caio seminar at my academy. They showed their berimbolo from de la riva since then it was the only berimbolo I knew until I got my hands on this instructional. Mikey is an incredible instructor and is so technical, there is not a single detail he leaves out. I am only half way through the series but I am loving every minute of exploring this position. Thanks Mikey!

Awesome instructional from a pioneer of the berimbolo system. It's rare to encounter someone with even a basic understanding of the berimbolo as a move, now you can learn the berimbolo as an entire system from the master. A must have if you want to have a modern game!

I learned so many concepts of Jiu Jitsu from this set and learned to see the different types of berimbolo positions! Definitely a must buy for anyone interested in improving their Jiu Jitsu!

Mikey's instruction is extremely precise and detailed, but very easy to understand. His explanation of how to use each of your limbs, body positioning and opponents body positioning in combination with the techniques is absolutely a game changer!!!

I just watched the first volume so far after buying this DVD, and I can already tell this is one of the gem instructionals of this website. Mikey's passion to want the viewer to learn is infectious. You can absolutely hear it just in his voice and presentation. I'm 40+ and not flexible, but the berimbolo system is something I've always wanted to learn but been tentative due to a bad neck. At MINIMUM I can already tell that even if you don't attack with berimbolo's yourself, if you go through this instructional (drilling it) you will have a deep understanding of the position itself in order to know what your partner/opponent is trying to do, and you can at least react to it in the right/better ways. Ossss.

Don’t even know where to get started. What I’ve learned is that Mikey is not only an expert in Berimbolo but he’s also an expert in teaching and helping people understand. Mikey is one of best bjj practitioners of our time and also one of the most technical. The way he breaks down and thinks about techniques is very unique and is found in this dvd. This is his masterpiece. His life’s work. I have been Mikey’s main student since he started even learning and figuring out the berimbolo and the techniques he has taught me (which are found in this dvd And the others to come) have helped me to win many tournaments of my own including black belt worlds. If you want to better your game and your overall understanding of bjj do yourself a major favor and get this dvd. Trust me on this as his partner in the dvd as well... it is worth every penny!
