  This was the instructional I was looking for to build a good foundation. The course started from a fundamental position and each video built on top of it, providing several paths for different situations. The guard retention section was also simple to understand and implement.

• First time I've ever felt dominant

  Easily the best instructional I've used. Better than Danaher or Andre or Keenan or the Grappler's Guide Heath gives a really clear system for novice white belts like myself to use. First time I've ever taken someone's back or gotten into mount through skill was by following Heath's instructions in the first hour. Also this video is just so much more engaging than any other instructional. I loved the format - having two white belts + Mike Zenga jumping in was fantastic. I know everyone gives 5 stars to reviews but this is more like 10 stars. Amazing. Also... unironically, my instructor has been so complimentary to me since he has seen me go on the offensive.

• Fundamental closed guard GI techniques

  This instructional teaches fundamental closed guard in the GI. The content includes pulling guard commencing from a standing position; controlling the opponent’s posture and moving to an offensive posture to prepare for submissions or to sweep; a series of submissions and a sweep; closed guard retention; and re-guarding techniques from side control, half guard and the mount. The instructional has a total runtime of 3 hours and 25 minutes. This is an excellent instructional because of the quality of the teaching, the logical progression of the content and the actual techniques taught. The approach used in this instructional is to teach the technique with appropriate commentary and demonstrations., however what is unique is the use of two white belts who are involved in the demonstrations and then they are required together to demonstrate the technique that has just been taught. As they demonstrate the technique they are coached by Heath Pedigo. This interaction shows the sort of problems that can be encountered when first learning the technique and provides the opportunity for questions from the white belt participants. You get plenty of opportunity to see the techniques being demonstrated. However, I am not sure that it was necessary to include footage of the guest demonstrator. Heath Pedigo stays focused on what is being taught and there is a good pace which kept me engaged with the content. I have watched this instructional several times. The video quality and sound is good (e.g., excellent range and consistently sharp focus) using a fixed camera position. The preview chapter (Vol 4, Chapter 7 – Half Guard Re-guard) and the trailer are consistent (i.e., sound and vision) with the balance of the instructional. Obviously, it was filmed at the BJJ Fanatics studio. This GI instructional should appeal to people who are starting BJJ, other belts who wish to improve their fundamental knowledge or people with the responsibility of teaching white belts. Additionally, in my experience not all schools may have a formal and detailed syllabus so this information may also be useful.

  About 10 minutes into this video I realized I made the mistake of not purchasing all 4 in the set. It's already helped my game defensively and offensively. Great stuff, I'll be purchasing Blue Belt Gi next!

• One of the best instructional I ever bought

  Through the years I purchased tons of instructionals. This is, hands down, one of the best i ever bought. Fist, professor Pedigo is simply a great teacher. He has a great understanding of the fighting mechanics, something like professor Danaher or professor Akins. Second, he is amazing in explaining: not too verbous, he gives all the needed information. Three, teaching method: having two white belts trying on each other and correct them in real time is a bold choice. He can do that only because he has the great knowledge he has. Fourth: choice of the techniques. There is an holistic approach: if you get a good grasp on all of them you will have a well rounded game. Plus, they are perfect to implement bjj body mechanics (e.g how to move in the guard, how to sit, etc). I never been into Daisy Fresh stuff… but now I understand the reasons behind the success. Hats off, just waiting for the blue belt stuff.

• The most I've learned from an instructional

  I've purchased a lot of instructionals the past few years. I think this is the easiest learning process I've had with all of the Fanatic videos. The instruction is just easy to understand and I don't feel lost or bored watching it ever. 5 Stars for Heath.
