Great video series that has really helped my side control game. Roger is the best there and really known for his mount attacks but this series really helps maintaining side control and then moving to mount which is exactly what I needed.

Really clearly explained, good quality audio and video, and a core system built on terrific fundamentals and "old school" principles. A great place to focus on building attacks in a stable position. Plus, Mauricio Gomes bonus material to watch on the second watch-through! (concentrate on him for a watch through, it's worth it!)

Great info on side control from Roger. As a beginner, I appreciate a lot of the little details you might not be communicated in a class. I can also see where this would be valuable someone all the way up through the black belt level.

After having studied this I have become aware of several submissions that was right in front of med but I did not recognize or use. I have also realized the connection of using the kimura in combinations like when when taking the mount. and also more aware to hunt for the mount and back-take from side-control.

The techniques in this video are definitely very useful and shown in great detail. It was also simply fun to watch, which I think helps a lot with retaining information from videos. Roger and Mauricio will simply put you in a good mood. One thing that could be improved, is to show the techniques from multiple angles. A lot of times I really wanted to see how exactly Roger positioned his hips and legs in more detail, which was not always possible to see. If at the end of every technique, they would have shown the whole thing from a different angle (even in short and without much explanation) it would have really helped me. Regardless of this minor complaint, I would definitely recommend this instructional.

This DVD series is outstanding and full of really good details and adjustments that will improve your side control. It was really nice to see him joking around with his dad. Very funny to watch and it's absolutely worth the money.

I have had Roger TV for 4 years and love it but it can get overwhelming with 100s of videos. I liked this condensed version of a side control system. I was able to watch several times and implement immediately. Nice to see Gomes in there as well because he’s a legend. Really hope Bernardo can convince Roger to do one in this format on Mount next! :call_me_hand:

I realized that before this dvd i didn't knew how to side control and mount. Roger Gracie give very good detail that make the difference. Now i have an effective game and my partner feel it well.

I visited a seminar of Roger last year in Zuerich(Switzerland) where he showed us his side control system. Since then I only use the technics he showed us in the seminar with resounding success. His system is simple but super effective: get perpendicular while lying on the opponents head, control the belt. Then fish for an underhook and do papercutter choke or get kimura and attack the back. Optionally go to mount from SC or get Kimura and attack the back. In this DVD he shows the seminar content plus some more moves and variations. Roger is a super nice guy and a great teacher, hope he visits Switzerland soon again, excellent DVD.

Roger’s system for addressing side control is surprisingly short. There aren’t a whole lot of moves that he shows. But surprisingly that ends up being a good thing. He focuses on showing a small number of highly detailed moves and explains how to create dilemmas for your opponent that force them to give up position. A lot of side control instructional are hard to follow because they show too many options. Roger’s system is well reasoned and focused. He shows how his system doesn’t rely on athleticism but rather forcing his opponents to try and address multiple threats which leads to progressively advancing position. This is a great supplement to the traditional approaches to side control that are taught in every school. Roger is known for his basics but I wouldn’t call this basic at all. Check out the preview on his technical mount. That is basically the level of detail he shows in every discussion. I’d never seen that version of the technical mount before. Highly recommended.

Simple concepts, yet so complex in their implementation. All this coming from the vast experience and proven record of a Master from a family of Masters. Basic techniques, using concrete solid battle tested foundational knowledge. This is the type of jiu-jitsu that functions at every level from the street to competition. I hope more videos from Roger Gracie are to follow this one. Start here.
