Good general overview. Covers a lot of different subs so limited detail for each
If you train in the Gi this is as good as it gets for rapidly improving your game and gaining confidence in the sport. It’s not sexy but good defense makes training much more fun and slows the game down so you can think. I can’t recommend this enough.
Whittier is similar to Akins- first principle based.
Awesome material that has made me a lot more confident with my choke defense. I Highly recommend all of Whittier’s First Principles series.
Professor Stephen Whittier is a BJJ instructor who really understands jiu jitsu and the deeper concepts behind just ‘the moves’. I have known Stephen for several years now and have several of his instructionals. I learn something from all of them and encourage you white to black belt to get a hold of this one and his other instructionals. I got out of a papercutter choke and a north south choke training last night with details I didn’t know before. Remember these techniques must be practiced wih your training partner.
