This instructional exceeds expectations. Great details right from the start. The experienced practitioner will appreciate the level of detail. A beginner won’t be overwhelmed and if you follow carefully the information is densely packed. You will be able to use this content for many many years.
Karel is a great teacher and really breaks down the key principles in a way that is easily understood. You'll find the use of the guards really expands the game you're able to play. Lastly, the details he gives on grip, subtle positional changes and breaking pressure will really change how you apply/control your submissions in training.
Awesome instructional. Very informative.
I brought the arm bar and guillotine instructional and over the weeks of trying all the different techniques i can confidently say it not only improved and taught me brilliant techniques but really improved my general understanding of jiu jitsu. I was a 2 stripe white belt before purchasing and now I’ve been promoted to blue belt. Cant recommend enough the improvements I made in such a short period of time is unbelievable
If you are looking for techniques to improve your armbar, I highly recommend to see this video. The teacher's style is unique and instruction is good to understand the details.
Silverfox is an absolute legend. He is easy to understand and truly a master of the game.
SSilver Fox presents a great combination of concepts and practical details, all in their appropriate context. And, with all the experience of Roll with the Fox, he has refined his ability to transmit this knowledge exceptionally clearly in a video instructional. I am looking foward to bring his knowledge into my own training.
I am 67 and am a shodan in judo, nidan in DanZan Ryu Jiu Jitsu and a blue belt in BJJ. I have been doing armbars for a long time, ever since I competed in sambo in the USSR when I was a teenager, and then in judo in the US. I love armbars. Still, I learned a ton of new materials, concepts, and approaches in Mr. Pravec's presentation. I also like his style of delivery. It also helps that his Uke is himself a very competent practitioner, himself a currently-competing BJJ black belt, and the two of them have practiced together for a long time, so they both know how to demonstrate something clearly. This material is a distillation of decades of training and is pure gold. I just bought Mr. Pravec's Guillotine instructional and look forward to learning from it as well.
As Coach Firas Zahabi said in one of his videos "the silver fox Karel Pravec is a 100 percent technique". This man right here completely changed my BJJ game with this DVD. His style is COMPLETELY based on technique. There is no strength involved in anything he teaches. Even though I own Gordon and John's DVDs, I found that this one was the easiest to absorb. The way he explains how to go Perpendicular on an opponent who pressures you in bottom guard changed my outlook on the bottom guard position. When he showed the armlock from bottom guard using the armpit grip without having to pass the leg over, I was completely shocked. An armlock that doesn't require passing the leg over the face?! What kind of BJJ Black MAGIC is this?!! This wasn't even taught extensively in John Danaher's Juji Gatame DVD, even though he taught the top lock. This man right here doesn't use his physical strength at all. Literally, every technique he shows works regardless of the level of athleticism you have (considering of course you don't have a disability or a medical issue preventing you from rolling). I quickly ran over and bought his DVD after seeing him on YouTube with Bernardo Faria in the video titled "very good posture control from closed guard by Karel Pravec". This man right here used to destroy Coach Firas Zahabi and UFC legend GSP back in the day (when they were lifting heavy in their young 20s, and were much stronger than Professor Pravec). I messaged him enquiring about something in his DVD, and he responded to me within a day. Please BJJ Fanatics, release more instructionals with this legend because he's the literal embodiment of the philosophy of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
A lot of great details in this instructional!
This content was amazingly mind blowing for my puny white belt brain, it completely shifted how I think about armbars. I've always been fascinated with the way Karel approaches jiujitsu, his game looks just so efficient, and to the point, no frills. Its inspiring to me and I hope to emulate it. the content is also easy for me to understand and very approachable!
Can say good enough things about silver fox. For sure worth the buy even if you saw his arm bar vids with TriStar. My question however is on the "butterfly choke" at 23 min on section 4. If you could explain that move and finishing details and follow ups on your YouTube I would appreciate it a lot!
I’ve known professor Karel for a long time and he is known for techniques. This video shows excellent concepts and detail explanations. This will benefit many people at all levels.
I have been familiar with Pravec for years now and only recently has it started clicking in my brain of how awesome his system and techniques are. Pravec teaches great techniques that rely upon timing and leverage rather than athleticism. This is great, especially for older grapplers like myself. Not only is Pravec a world class BJJ practitioner and teacher, he's an even better person as well. Often my application of his techniques are lacking and he always takes the time to answer questions via Facebook or YouTube. This instructional is simple enough for beginners but deep enough for experienced grapplers as well. It seems like no matter how many times I may watch a specific technique, I'll always pick up new details that make my application even better.
Great details and easy to follow very impressed with this purchase.
Incredible value here. No fluff, no BS, couldn’t be happier with the purchase. He doesn’t hold back on the guy he demo’s on either, gives you a great sense of the strength of these positions.
I wish I had known about Mr. Pravec a long time ago. His philosophy with respect to BJJ is awesome. This instructional is succinct and to the point. It changed my game after going through it the first time. I hope that he has further instructionals planned with BJJ Fanatics
For those of us who have been following Pravec, through his video with Zahabi and his YouTube channel during the quarantine, it comes as no surprise that this is tutorial is just excellent. Unique yet no non-sense concepts and techniques by a master of the art.
Coach Fox does an amazing job in this instructional breaking down his arm bar principles. I am big fan of his teaching style and now he builds concepts in a logical manner. He switches between Gi and No Gi to show the moves work equally well in both styles. Additionally he is very responsive on Facebook if you have any questions, which is a nice plus.
You have to have the basics of an armbar down to get the most out of this but if you do, it is pretty amazing.
Do yourself a favour and get your hands on as many Silver Fox instructionals as you can. I really like his teaching style and what matters here is you are learning systems to get submissions. Very intelligent well thought out systems of trapping and attacking and great follow ups. I have increased my armlock and triangle submission efficiency many times over by studying his online classes and videos. Can’t recommend this instructional enough. 7 out 5 Stars.
Great DVD as others Have mentioned I first heard of the silver fox on Frias YouTube channel. His armbars are great and dangerous the tap comes quick so be careful with these. What really blew me away was his response to feedback. Some felt there wasn’t enough detail and Mr fox invited him to his live YouTube to correct the problem. It doesn’t get much better than that highly recommended
Great resource for both beginner and advanced practitioners
This is such an awesome series! The level of details are great. I just finished Vol. 1 and cannot wait to watch the rest. Thanks Mr. Pravec and BJJ Fanatics!
Great content on arm bars and a couple of unorthodox Guards. Came across silver fox via his anti virus videos which he did for free throughout the height of the pandemic for free on you tube (50+ hours of content - hats of to you sir!) and been a fan since so had to get this when it came out. He is an awesome teacher and brings some new and unusual concepts to the BJJ game. Buy it, you wont regret it!
