Enjoyable and learned a lot.
This is one of two instructional videos about the knee ride (Gi) you should watch here on BJJ Fanatics. The other is Basics To Advanced: The Knee on Belly Attack Encyclopedia by Aaron Benzrihem. By watching both, you can see some variations and understand the concepts behind them. Yes, many side control instructions contain some knee-on-belly sequences, but this one focuses on the position in isolation. I recommend it.
Very good details and concepts to ride properly and attack. No fancy stuff but very solid basics.
Excellent!
Good stuff
Top Pressure is awesome
Gives a whole range of different knee on belly variations and a smorgasbord of transitions and submissions from that specific position.
This is a great course. Instead of technique-for-technique sequences, Stephen Whittier explains the foundations of the position from the ground up. If you really want to learn this, then I highly recommend this course.
It is another high quality series by professor Whittier. He breaks down the principles and methods of control. His “hybrid” position is an especially good addition for maintaining and advancing. His section on tactics (creating dilemmas and finishing submissions) improved my success with the position. It is a great series if you struggle with knee on belly or you want to improve the position in general.
S. W. points out the fundamentals of knee on belly as a jiu jitsu player and in self defense. He uses a more self defemse based approach where you but your shin more across the belly than towards the sternum which gives you a more stable position and you are able to utilize your arms and hands more freely. It is about maintaining, switching sides, transitioning to mount and back and of course submitting your opponent. His details are very deep but easy to follow. I also like his calm way of teaching. Highly recommend!
I like this position a lot from a self defense aspect. Nicely explained.
