Priit’s concepts are great. His turtle advice has helped my game especially when rolling with people that are better than me. I can last longer and avoid being tapped more often. Love Priit’s instructionals!
This stuff works. Ive been doing this since before Covid and no one has broken the posture. Ive made mistakes and poorly timed or managed transitions but thats learning. Our head coach has used me to as the uke on how to beat the posture Turtle and Running man and i still survive with the Priit system. They always say learn defense but much of the defense seems to be taught by accident or is glossed over in class or as the uke throwing out a problem to be overcome but this a solid platform to stand on.
This has deeply helped my game. I’m reviewing with my coach and drilling.
I am really enjoying this content. The idea of learning the defence first resonates with me.
Great content that encourages different ways to look at grappling.
I’ve already had the honor to study with Priit and was very impressive but with this DVD everything changed, even my approach with this position and my knowledge about it are improved! So I only suggest to buy this DvD and if you have the opportunity to study in camp whit him, do it!
I’m still quite new to bjj but this set is fantastic. I love his ideas and the way he teaches. Very simple to understand and then execute. This will be very valuable to me throughout my entire journey.
Enjoyed the more theory based approach for “turtle”. Also appreciated the degree of details presented that were explored for a “seemingly” overlooked guard.
Very good information on defending chokes even with gi.
Excellent information
I’ll had a hard time to defend the back before from the turtle. The position makes me se my opponent more and defend the seatbelt, escaping hooks and chokes.
I just got done watching this DVD so I have not tried out any of the techniques yet. But I wish he showed at least one sweep from turtle. He explains how the threat of standing up forces the opponent to put more pressure on you which makes it easier to sweep them. But then he doesn't show you any sweeps. So to use this DVD to its full potential I will have to learn some sweeps from another source which is annoying. This is the only issue I have with this dvd.
Before I watched this DVD, I was already familiar with Priit's turtle concepts from his BJJ Globetrotters seminar so I knew the fundamentals. But boy oh boy, there's much more to that. Essentially, what Priit did here is a total game changer for people that want to add some depth into their defensive game. It gives you a strong and defensively sound turtle that buys you much time to make decisions on what to do next. And having this kind of comfort enables you to go for guard pulls, reversals or even submissions (Telles style). I would say that if you want to play Turtle Telles-like - then this dvd should be a pre-requisite to build a strong defensive turtle. And if you want just to be safe in that position - then definitely you need to know this stuff as well. I personally went from having no turtle to have pressure-tested turtle that annoys people a lot in few months of experimenting after watching this DVD. Highly recommended!
After watching all of Priit’s globetrotters content I found myself needing to buy all of his videos. I’ve watched and studied tons of things, but nothing has made my game so immediately effective against even my black-belt instructor who struggled to submit me. I’ve extremely thankful for the stuff he’s put out there, and find it rings true about how his content can greatly improve athleticism for BJJ. Great techniques in here, although I am a little skeptical still about rotating using one’s forehead in one section (at least in an MMA context, even if it works well on softer mats), but the rest is genius, simple, and very effective. Thanks again.
I love Priit's approach! Use less movement and do more! This series will not only, tighten up your Turtle game but your overall Grappling Game! Highly recommend anything by Professor Priit! 🙏
I have taken interest in how you choose words in you description of both movement and technique. Paradigm shifting and perhaps helping you is having English as a second language…...you need to think 'out of the box/mat' with words as you do with movement and conceptual thought. I put this to the test today. I changed the word ‘survival’ (which has a somewhat passive connotation) to ‘exploration’ during drilling. Interesting results on how the energy changed. Seemed like the JIU in jiu jitsu was more active and the idea of winning/losing in the rolls was diminished. As a side note, there is a lot to learn from your teaching by actually LISTENING to you talk. Your are giving away the ‘secrets’ with words as well as technique.
Everybody is all about offensive game nowadays and if their guard gets passed, then problems happen. Problems that can be fixed within couple of hours of watching this DVD. I am a huge advocate of Priit's methodology and concepts - because they're simple (but not easy) and efficient. After taking few of his classes during BJJ Globetrotters camp I fixed years of bad arm bar escapes, mount escapes, etc. with just a few adjustments here and there. It was so simple but I had to abandon several bad habits that were making me vulnerable. It's no different with this DVD. Priit teaches simple fixes to your Turtle, and shows how to avoid the most common attacks while enabling you to play some offense. My turtle didn't get level up with this one, it was completely rebuilt from scratch and finally I can calmly play it whenever I need it. Definitely a game changer for those that want to improve their guard retention and double up their defense.
This series has help me add a new dimension to my game.
I've purchased all of Priit's series on BJJFanatics. The concepts are invaluable in my opinion. The great thing is that they can be applied in training and fine tuned as you work with them over time.
In short: amazing. Priit improves your turtle guard with just a few pointers. You'll never be afraid to turn away from your opponent which expands your defence tremendously.
I have had this video for about 1 month now and have watched it twice... the concepts have been very helpful, as well as effective. I will continue to reference this material and put them to practice, as I can see how they fit nicely into my game and will improve my game at a quicker rate.
Very well organized and layout. Smart how things are explained. Been try so far the content on the first dvd and so far having success with it. But finder that I must go back and watch it to fix my mistakes. This what I have been looking for and can't wait to save up to get grilled chicken dvd. Hope u guy get more of his stuff.
Priits insight on the turtle has changed my game. Especially for someone like me beginning the BJJ journey, these concepts will help your defense by leaps and bonds. By surviving it has made the rolls much longer and more important, much more FUN. I’m really proud when someone calls me annoying now!
Priit is a BJJ savant. I find most DVDs a struggle to digest but Priit has a great way of explaining things and his approach makes him unique. Can't wait for more.
