It always is a pleasure watching Garcia's videos. Clearly, his knowledge of the subject is extensive. But, what impresses me the most is the fluidity of his movements. At first this put me off. As a much older grappler, I doubted that I could incorporate his movements into my much slower game. However, I found that by listening and observing how he gets into position, that I could do it, though in a more plodding manner. I am happy to report that I am repeatedly catching my training partners using the north south choke techniques demonstrated in this instructional.

Technical and clearly presented
Marcelo presents the North South Choke so clearly and comprehensively that I started tapping higher belts right away with it. Now everyone in my academy comes to me to learn it or for me to help them tune it up. As a smaller, older, slower guy, I love the way controlling the neck from NS helps me keep large, young, athletic players down, and even if they explode out trying to defend the NS Choke they expose their arms to NS Kimuras or end up in a front headlock or even in a darce. I built a lot of my game around this choke, thanks to these videos.

Very detailed and methodical instructional from beginning to ending with ALL the "what ifs" you may encounter with a skilled opponent who is trying to defend against the choke. I am glad I added this to my collection.

I choked out a higher belt multiple times using everything in this class. I felt bad the first two times. The person I was sparring with (who was well over a hundred pounds than me) was really bummed out that the north south happened three times in three minutes. Thank you Marcelo.

I always liked this choke, got really close, then had folks pendulum, slither etc out of my submission. Marcelo not only goes into the necessary finishing details regarding squeeze, hand fighting and alignment, he also shows a million places to initiate the choke from that I never would have thought of. My percentage for finishing the choke has gone in just a few weeks from a 20% finish rate to about 70% and I'm still finding new details to apply every time I press the play button.

This instructionnal is just perfect!!! Allways loved the north south choke but a lot of mistakes made me lost the position several times in the past. Now I use this jewel almost each time in training and even taped out my opponent at grappling industries last weekend thanks to Marcello Garcia and all the details from body position to head placement and grip. Now the north south is my sharpest weapon and allways looking for passing guard and attack it while on a side control. Highly recommended and in my case, perfect for my top game. This is my best purchase so far on bjj fanatics love it.

as an older and smaller practitioner, mastery of this move has allowed to secure a position I could establish control over bigger and younger opponents while at the same time providing a legitimate threat of submission. Every detail given by the great Marcelo Garcia has paid dividends. It also gives a window on a world class champions mindset when establishing positions and moves.

As an older beginner I wanted to learn a technique that fits my level ( or rather lack )of athleticism Although the instruction is focusing on one technique, I feel like I am learning many more general concepts and feel this is useful for me as a early blue belt to get a better understanding of BJJ in general.

I’m always a little apprehensive about buying a series based on just one choke or technique as psychologically it doesn’t feel like great value for money. However the North South choke is my favourite and my most used finish and this series has just improved my game in terms of giving me more entry points to using it. Marcelo as always, is excellent and I love his techniques as they are very quick, practical and explosive.
