Very good and very complete tutorial. Many concepts that will improve your halfguard
So much good info. This instructional is packed with useful concepts to improve your half guard. Goes well with other half guard instructionals. I have Danaher and Lachlan Giles half guard courses as well and this info complements and works well with the material in those courses. Whittier has a different way of teaching that is definitely worth checking out.
This was one of the first videos I bought on bjjfanatics and it was amazing. Whittier takes you through the entire half guard so you not only know what techniques to apply, you will understand the game from a fundamental and conceptual level. This isn't a flashy video. It's even a tad bit boring at times. But get through it and your game will improve immensely. For example, Whittier showed a very simple technical detail when applying an underhook to counter the whizzer. You simply turn your palm facing outward and your opponent cannot whizzer you. I tried this against a higher belt that outweighed me by 90 pounds and his whizzer was shut down so he had to try something else. This simple thing was missed in every other half guard instructional that I've seen, and I've seen many of them.
S.W. delivers the best structure throughout this course. He puts the focus on every aspect of maintaining or regaining the half guard as well as transitions and submissions! Highly recommend!
