Eduardo Telles gives us a few tools to become more comfortable with in this instructional. His enthusiasm is infectious, and he is a joy to listen to. This DVD isn’t quite as fleshed out and In-depth as some of his other turtle instructionals, but in another sense this makes it more digestible and easier to dig into, especially as a white belt. 5/5.
Great video, Eduardo explains things in a very simple way to understand, Thanks
Nice technic
Provides a great game plan for the turtle position, Prof. Telles shows how to combine sequences for various positional situations.
Professor Telles is the original turtle master! Great collection of techniques that will improve your turtle game!
Telles defines someone who thinks “outside the box”, and in this instructional, he provides the fundamentals on his unique approach to the turtle position and how you can use it to confuse and outfox opponents. Learn from a master how turtle is not just a defensive position, but can be used to create a dynamic, unexpected offense. Awesome!
As a former wrestler getting into BJJ, one of my biggest flaws has been my tendency to 'table up', which gives up my back. In wrestling, that table position can be a lot more advantageous than its cousin the turtle in BJJ. This video has helped me understand how to transition into and out of that position in an intelligent and productive way. Highly recommended!
Great techniques and the professor really knows how to break them up in a simple manner.
These techniques definitely helped my back escape game! It’s very unorthodox but it’s great to have in the tool box for when you’re caught in turtle or someone has tour back.
great stuff
Eduardo does a great job with this video. Some great techniques. Great advanced techniques. I really enjoy Eduardo's style and his creativity from defending and countering the back mount position.
the more and more i play turtle the more and more i understand this dvd. Telles starts you with open guard transitions to turtle and regarding for a reason. it was lost on me but there is a reason he is the turtle master. now i see and implement everything from this dvd. at the end of the dvd he summarizes everything from the 2 prevelant turtle positions which makes life really simple. must have for a turtle player
When I first started bjj for some reason my academy was full of back takers i would not even get a chance to break the closed guard I would just get a quick arm drag from closed guard in to back position then rnc an that was it every time for two months when i just joined. There had to be a way to stop and or get out of back position then my prayers where answered an I found your dvd prof. telles and now my favorite go to dvd an my new fav position the turtle, i can't remember the last time someone tap me with a rnc. I am now the turtle guy at my gym an the only turtle guy.lol people wont follow my lead it's to risky so risk no reward. my best turtle achievements catching the steam roller on three purple belts an four brown belts, turtle plata a 4 stripe blue belt an escaping a rnc from a black belt. My coach use to go crazy an yell when I use to give my back now he can't wait for me to give my back to see what crazy tricks i have up my sleeve. Lol thank you so much for making this dvd an giving me a defending chance.oss.:call_me_hand::martial_arts_uniform:
Simple and effective
Great content.
great stuff
The techniques in this video have helped my game. Professor Telles has clear max precise instructions which makes it very easy to pick up and learn. Highly recommend for everyone who’s looking to up their back defense and offense.
Good video series shows a lot on attacking from the turtle position. Would reccomend
I always enjoyed the turtle game of Mestre Telles and this video is filling a gap with strategy and details that genuinely completes the original DVD of the turtle guard. But to be really precious to all turtle game lovers there should have been an additional chapter with Mestre Telles giving live comments of applying the strategy during a sparring or a fight. Let’s hope it can still be done and sent to all purchasers! This would be great! Peace :call_me_hand:
They weren't lying. Telles is a true teacher and practitioner, he's also funny and highly accessible. Gracias!
Very concise, up to date and effective techniques as always. I'm a big fan of Prof. Telles since his Turtle and Octopus Guard DVD and for now, it's like a refined/cutting edge version and still enjoys watching and learning a lot. Highly recommended.
"That's not a guard!" Then how do you keep getting swept? Professor Telles is by far the #1 resource on turtle techniques. I have the original DVD. I bought this instructional because I wanted to pay direct hespects to the man that introduced me to the turtle game. The turtle game is DEVASTATING. At first they may doubt, but eventually guys are hesitant to even try to control you in turtle. Once you master the material, thesweeps/reversals are automatic passes into side control from "bad" positions. This is a great addition to your game if you are older, inflexible, heavy, and/or a half guard player. I feel Professor has more than enough to fill up a full set on this topic so the only downside is that this one just seems a little short. Luckily, I also have the original. I do admit, the topics he covered are what I use the most even with both of his instructionals. So maybe less is more? I really would have loved some live rolls/demonstrations, but Professor has lots of matches online. Given the rise of the headlock attack series, I really wanted to see more depth there. While it wasn't in the original DVD, Professor does cover the topic and get you to the back or into your guard game. This instructional is a great starting point if you want to not only defend, but EFFECTIVELY attack from turtle. Big hespect to Professor Telles!
Totally Worth it, this man has a great charisma. The turtle guard by Eduardo Telles is a great DVD to improve your turle guard skills.
I purchased this right after attending an Eduardo Telles seminar. He covered most of the techniques shown on the video so this is a great resource for continuing study. The video quality and Professor Telles’ English are a lot better.
