Nice and well explained
Wrestling up is the upcoming trend in bjj… this is a guide for beginner, very well taught
Just Stand Up!
Great instructional that brings jiu jitsu closer to a combat sport and not martial art. Will definitely use in the gym and work on standups. After all, you won't get any points nor good control of your opponent to submit him while laying on your back so why keep doing it?
The new meta
Standing and wrestling up are the new meta in jiu jitsu. This instructional will help you develop these skills. Both Chris and Charles are amazing instructors, and their system will benefit your BJJ immensely.
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging:Immediately useful
Stuff to put into practice straight away
Response from BJJ Fanatics:fire:A different take on how to approach being on the bottom.
White belt trying this with white belts so take this review with that in mind. Really enjoyed this video series. I've started playing with it against the other white belts in my gym and it seems promising. The threat of standing up is one more thing for them to contend with, one more factor in their decision making and one more chance for them to overcommit. Now they don't just have to worry about me sweeping or subbing but they need to consider standing up as well. I think this DVD would pair well with Craig Jones just stand up to expand the range in ways you can get to your feet or threaten to get to your feet. The elbow frame seems to work well and I've used it a few times to help get out from the bottom in sparring. I need to drill it more however as my posture isn't quite right while doing it but even so I've had some success with it.
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::+1::skin-tone-2:Dealing with heavy pressure
This has introduced a very powerful frames to help me deal with heavy pressure. Still early on in applying this into my game and having fun experimenting with this unorthodox position. I can already see openings present themselves as people react to me putting the elbow frame in place. Excited to keep developing this system and turning it into an offensive position.
Response from BJJ Fanatics:hugging::call_me_hand::skin-tone-2:Great system to avoid getting stuck
I have been doing the Defensive BJJ system since Covid started and it is useful to avoid submissions. In order to start winning you need to get away or reverse the position. Then I started doing that shark fin (reverse collar tie). This video ties in the structures to a plan to get away or to create movement that can be used to make sweeps more effective. Having options and a simple plan that you can practice means that in scrambles the other person is lost in your neighborhood. This video gives an easy to follow plan even while recognizing that is is still a struggle. A real system for standing and failure options like this is valuable.
Awesome
I was attacked by a grizzly last week. Thanks to the elbow frame and butt judo, I am now wearing a bear pelt. Thanks Charles!
