I have yet to try any of the techniques, but as a former wrestler I wish I'd learned this at white belt. So many of these positions are ones I was comfortable and skilled in a decade ago, but I ditched them in favor of more traditional BJJ positions of control. I look forward to "Khabibing" more partners later tonight!
Craig's right and this instructional should really change the way you approach grappling from the top. Reddit was right that this series has had more an impact on my game/thought process then any other instructional I've watched.
The concepts presented in this instructional are pretty mind blowing. I've started training these control techniques and they felt counterintuitive at first because (as he points out) the techniques I have trained over the years are geared around certain sport BJJ rules. But, after working with the positions and techniques, it was very apparent how good these techniques are to establish top control. Craig Jones is great at teaching these concepts, and really thinks outside the box. In this instructional, he says that these concepts are not meant to replace the techniques you've been training, but to supplement them to create a more dominant top control uninhibited by any sport BJJ set of rules. All in all a fantastic no gi instructional that adds another dimension to your game, and (quite honestly) has elevated my excitement and love for BJJ. I look forward to more instructionals like this from Craig Jones!
I was hesitant at first to buy instructionals until I was more experienced with jiu jitsu, but I'm very glad I got this one early in my game. Power Ride really helped me to understand pressure and controls, and how to maintain top position, and I'm glad I watched it before engraining the traditional positions too much. I've started riding the legs in classes and I've noticed a tremendous difference in how fatigued my partner is, and how much longer I can stay on top, even being a lighter guy. Very good instructional, would highly recommend.
Craig explores a very unique way to dominate and control your opponent independently from scoring points. It really works and allow you to arrive in a very dominant position where you can submit very easily your opponent. And finally the way Craig teach is unique!!!!
excellent concept that can help to elevate a standard top control game
Perfect
awesome
this pinning philosophy bring a whole new perspective to jiujitsu
I really enjoyed the breaking of the mold of the point system. I think anything that brings us close to something useful in real situations is better, and this was great!
Super helpful for someone without a grappling/wrestling background. Craig Jones is funny, entertaining and does a great job as an instructor in this series. Highly Recommend!
I am 9 months into BJJ with no grappling/wrestling background. The concepts taught in this instructional have really improved my pinning ability. After rolling, a lot of partners ask me what I was doing and explaining how difficult it was to fight against. Plus, Craig Jones is very funny, talented and I think he does a great job explaining the details in this instructional. Would highly recommend!
Good ****
Some of it will take some time to work out the kinks, some of it you can start using effectively immediately. All of it is high quality and a great tool to have for superior control.
Insanely good content and really easy to implement.
Craig has given me the skills to torture every trial class white belt for years to come
Excellent instruction. Easy to understand, functional, and evolving BJJ. Great instruction by Craig Jones
Craig has developed a complete system that can integrate seamlessly into the traditional BJJ pinning positions.
love Craig jones
Making pinning easier for the little guy
Really interesting approach to controlling the partner
I was able to almost immediately implement much of what I learned in this instructional. The concepts and control strategies completely changed how I played and what I attempted. My ability to maintain top position is greatly improved, even against higher belts.
I like.
Love the concepts here. Very unorthodox approach to BJJ. I wish there was a deeper dive to get into these positions of pinning.
