My training partner's hate my cradles after this
Great details, great instructional.
Honestly wow this is so sick! Never seen some of these subs before and definitely some new ones to implement from a strong position.
highly recomended instructional
Highly recommended! With the influence of wrestling on no-gi grappling and BJJ, at some point you’ll want to look into the cradle. It’s a great position to set up passes and submissions from, and Dave Petrone is one of the best at it. This DVD is full of innovative sequences and series that will not only help you control and pass guards, but also set up submissions. I am already using some of the techniques in live training. Get this one, or get caught… (Also make sure to check out the gi version, it’s great as well)
Dave is an incredible coach and wonderfully mixes the world's of catch and submission wrestling with BJJ. His techniques are accessible, effective, and nasty!!! Highly recommend!!
Dave and Vinny put a ton of effort into putting our incredible content and it shows. If you're wanting to implement some classic catch wrestling into a modern jiu jitsu game, these are the dudes to listen to. CRADLE GANG!!! Mike Cheney Brasa Black Belt
Excellent series. Really gives a great perspective on using the cradle to counter many of the usual things that you encounter when your opponent is trying to recover guard and also gives you nice attacks to use against the butterfly guard. If you are a jiujitsu practitioner that uses the truck this video will show you some extra finishes and ways to get into it. I couldn't recommend this series more as it really gives some great ways to counter the shrimp, etc.... Really great.
Love the use of wrestling for jiu jitsu. Great content. Highly recommend checking it out!
Very interesting interpretation of using the pin and cradle for Submission Grappling.
Very good video with an interesting use of the pin!
This instructional is freakin' awesome. SO MANY techniques!! There is some very creative stuff in here. At least 80% of this will be stuff you've never seen before. Some techniques are more high-percentage than others, but they're all bad ***, and even the off-the-wall ones will give you ideas. What I particularly like about this instructional is that Mr. Petrone took the time to explain control concepts and how to pass into cradles. You'll also find how to respond when your opponent is defending your cradle, however these various, "counters to the counters," are hidden within the techniques. And they're a lot of techniques, so you'll have to do some digging.
David Petrone has a great approach to an often-overlooked position that works across categories of grappling. His cradle techniques are extremely well thought out and systematically take the viewer through step by step. Dave creates multiple threats for submissions all while completely destroying and controlling the bottom guard player. If you don’t get this dvd you’re going to miss out on true genius. THE BEST dvd I’ve seen in a LONG time.
A great offensive in its own right, but also a fantastic bridge between wrestling and submission grappling.
Great instructional video !
Good stuff. Cradles are the best thing since sliced bread
Excellent series, not being a wrestler I didn't have cradle experience. It blends well with BJJ.
If you're a wrestler looking to get into submission grappling, look no further!! If you're a practicing bjj player looking to expand your skill set - again - look no further!! This hybrid approach is the perfect blend of traditional wrestling and traditional bjj that makes for a nasty bomb for any opponent of any level. Taking advantage of reactions and higher ground positions to easily get past guards and remain offensive while also maintaining dominant control. Not just holding on, but DOMINANT CONTROL, all while guiding your opponents to their doom. SOLID techniques!! [PS - Head Hunters is my favorite!]
I love David and Vin's approach that the cradle is not only a wrestler's tool of control, but a submission grapplers best friend to control/pass/submit. If you are a wrestler with no submission grappling experience, this system can help you implement existing knowledge into BJJ or catch wrestling. And from the other side, if you have no wrestling experience but enjoy jiu jitsu, the cradle system as a tool can help open submissions for upper body as well as legs.
BRUTAL finishes of all kinds from various cradles - chokes, neck cranks, arm locks, and leg locks. Finishes for any type of finisher! My only caveat with this tape would be that Petrone sometimes slips into little bits of jargon that he doesn't explain - most notably "grandma" for the crook of the arm (a Billy Robinson favorite) - but you should be able to understand as long as you actually pay attention while watching. Can't wait to give some of these a try!
This video is easily applied and managed to work hand in hand with Neil’s Cradle of Filth. I’ve already been able to apply strategies to large opponents using this system
You just made jiujitsu new to me again! So many cradle portals to explore...the possibilities are endless!
If you want to change your nogi game this is it! For all the wrestlers out there getting into BJJ this instructional will give you the tools to apply what you already know in the unfamiliar grappling world your jumping into! Love how David make it easy to understand and points out the small details for you to be able to set up and apply these techniques in your live roll! I’ve already hit 2 calf slicers from the cradle in the grave set up and I’ve only had this instructional for few days! Thank you BJJ fanatics for bringing us not only the bast content but now the rarest content to date! Keep training!
This is a phenomenal instructional that encompasses the cradle and its various uses. As a former wrestler the cradle is a technique that I keep going back to in my BJJ game. There have been times that I have been stuck with certain positions, getting to the back or countering defensive reactions from having my training partner in the near side cradle for example. Coach Petrone’s instructional answers many of these questions and provides an array of techniques that are very easy to digest and able to apply the next time you get the opportunity to train, some are just straight up Nasty! . Great work. A masterpiece for us that love the cradle.
I loved the hybridization of grappling styles. Coach David killed this series with some mind blowing techniques. This instructional opened up a new realm of grappling play. I can’t wait to get on the mats and start dominating the cradle game. Superior control pinning and submission work. I strongly recommend this instructional series for serious grapplers.
