Excellent
Great way systematically breaking down the stand up portion of BJJ. Highly recommend.
Thanks
Remarkable details. Not surprised from "the master."
Again Prof. Danahar out does himself. His scientific and highly technical approach is the best I have seen in the industry. The aspects of his teaching can be absorbed into anybodies game.
John Danaher is the next evolution in jiu-jitsu
Very detailed and the information never stops flowing.
I'm only through the first video and already have increased my takedowns in sparring. JD explains all the concepts which are so important.
This is my first JD Instructional. JD repeats himself very often, which is the reason why this instructional is very long (18 hours!). However, I believe that JD does this intentionally in order to increase the learning experience for the viewer. And it works. After having watched the first three parts of the video I must admit that before I had no idea whatsoever of what I was doing when standing up. JD's instructional changed that. Now I know why and where I grip, which positions I should avoid, when I can attempt a takedown and when it is better to pull guard. Therefore, if you are willing to invest the time, this is totally worth it.
Like always John is clear and accurate in his teachings.
Before Buying this series, I thought to myself that how could a man create 10+ hours worth of content based on a game that's almost 99% groundwork. So I decided I won't be buying. I headed over to Bernardo Faria's Channel and there he interviewed John about his new DVD Series that's called "Feet to Floor". There, John explained how most black belts even don't know these things, cause in most MMA/BJJ Gyms, you're trained heavily or almost totally on ground, you barely know stuff. I knew Flashy stuff like Imanari Roll and things but not the fundamentals behind them. This course will come as a gem to you if you are at the very top of your game. I bought the second series too! Being a black belt, I can tell you that Danaher's instructionals are more than worth it as soon as you hit your good old blue belt. Also, I own every one of his courses, I even have 5 of them in DVD format, so yeah, trust me, I know what I'm talking about!
It's a great instructional video with a lt of amazing details looking forward to buy the volume 2 once I finish from the volume 1
If you want to learn takedowns, you have to start here. I'm only going to explain a few things but there are a huge number of critical principles in this set that you simply won't find on any other videos. For example, he explains about the importance of breaking grips and setting up your opponent. If you fail to do these two "basic" things, the rest of your throwing technique is guaranteed to fail. He also covers how to use the standard wrestling techniques when wearing a gi. Again, tons of videos show takedowns, but they leave out the key principles and without them, like how to break grips BEFORE attempting a takedown, your wrestling technique will be blocked. The final video about the self defense value of the high single leg is just pure gold. For that tape alone, I'd gladly pay the price for the set.
I loved the SVG part of this instructional. It will be very useful for jiu-jitsu students because of the growing need for self defense in modern times. Jiu-jitsu is wrongly looked down upon now days by most of the population (at least in my state). I myself have been stalked and harassed multiple times because some people found out that I train jiu-jitsu. Every jiu-jitsu student needs to have the ability to go SVG on someone when it is called for. This instructional is a must have for that reason alone. Also, I would love see John Danaher do an entire instructional on self defense very soon. Any word if something is in the works?
single greatest martial arts video I've ever seen, first if you don't own any of the videos the free videos on youtube will teach you a lot of details that change your game. but this video specifically has made me more confident standing and the end of the dvd which is a self defense but also a sort of nogi/mma instructional on standing is as noted in other reviews, worth it on its own. jiu jitsu isn't effective if you're dependent on pulling guard, and this video def helps someone learn how to take a person down in 3-6 months!!!
Like all of Danaher's videos, this is a must have. The information in this DVD could revolutionize modern jiu-jitsu, and I'm not exaggerating in the least.
Really really awesome stuff with an systematic approach! Simply amazing, but one would not except any less from Mister Danaher!
I am really digging this new set so far. I'm primarily a striker who is learning BJJ and to have this information to address the transition is fantastic for me. My primary BJJ school doesn't really address the stand up game very often.
As always, Professor Danaher delivers. I highly recommend this and all his other comprehensive instruction videos.
This video changed my stand up game completely. After watching it, I was able to apply the knowledge in a tournament and went 3 for 3 on take downs.
I no longer have to be solely a guard puller. Also, the self defense portion of the instructional is a reason enough to get this. This instructional is excellent filled with concepts that are easy to implement even for people who **** at takedowns.
I’ m a brown belt at BJJ and I pratice Judo for 4 years now. I never made any takedown on my BJJ mate. None, nothing! Until I watch these videos... Thanks to Danaher, I understand all the things that I did not understand in my Judo club, and link that to BJJ.
It's always a great instructional dvds!
Excellent stuff as always. John Danaher never fails to disappoint!
I did not expect this. The size of information is the double of other Danaher's instructionals which is usually the double of other thorough instructionals. It Covers all the basic stuff. I didn't know what to do when standing beyond trying the typical takedown drilled in class as a single leg and get choked so my game was wait for the single leg and choke people following the reactive entries that I already learned from Mr. D. or perform what I thought that was a collar drag... Very sad. Now I have a plan of action and know what to seek depending on the stance, grips and movement of my opponent and perform an advantageous collar drag or ankle pick or a single leg not being choke which is immensely easier from the right grips and stance. BUT what I didn't expect was seeing Danaher enjoying so much teaching it, he smiled, laughed and joked twice as usual. Volumes 7 and 8 were the second surprise. I am not making spoilers of them but I anticipate thousands of memes and discovered tons of actual self defense advice, ruthless, bloody, well beyond takedowns and Japanese terminology. Hockey? Seriously? Surprising. Overwhelming. Ruthless. Danaheresque.
