• Both breadth and depth

  This instructional teaches positional escapes and recoveries for both the Gi and No-Gi. At the end of the day escapes are important, as they allow you to enjoy rolling rather than being stuck under your partner’s control and being crushed. The instructional series consists of eight volumes, with the major elements including: escape concepts, movements (e.g. hip escape, bridge, etc), and escapes for all the major positions including back control, turtle, side control, kesa gatame, scarf hold, switch base side control, north-south, knee on belly, and the mount (low, high and S mount). Additionally, there is guidance given to avoid typical submissions from these dominate positions. For example: when mounted defending against the cross choke, americana and armbar. This series is comprehensive both in its breadth and the details provided for each control position. For me this is a series that you keep revisiting, as there is such a lot of information to consider, reflect and absorb. I find it useful after having rolled to use this instructional to help me improve my ability to escape from a position where I have had difficulties. Lachlan presents well and he is easy to understand. He clearly demonstrates the techniques. The techniques are structured and logical. He teaches an overview of the position and the associated concepts before teaching the escapes and recovery techniques and finally linking the escapes techniques for the position. Additionally, there is footage of rolling, where Lachlan escapes the position using the techniques taught in the series. Sound and picture quality are good. The angles of the technique displayed are appropriate. This series will be useful and beneficial if you are wanting to improve your ability to escape positional controls and/or add to your repertoire of reliable positional escapes. From my experience it is money well spent. The instructional is 7 hours and 14 minutes long.

  Lachlan covers the basic move and gives all of the little details that most miss at a pace that keeps you interested. He also adds some Gi which is nice for us Gi people. I strongly suggest this one.

  It's rare to find a person who can compete at a high level and can also provide instruction at a high level. Usually, the best competitors are not the best teachers and vice versa. Mr. Giles has a unique talent for identifying the important details and showing methods in a concise and easy to understand way. He finds a way to make the hardest moves and concepts simple. There are so many techniques that I've learned in bjj, I couldn't execute because I thought I was too inflexible, slow or unathletic. After watching Mr. GIles' videos I've realized that I was missing some key details... and suddenly the techniques started working. Lachlan Giles makes the best videos for beginner, intermediate and advanced students. I've learned so many of the basic bjj attacks, defenses and escapes, but I still pick up so much after watching his videos. Lachlan Giles is simply an amazing instructor! I'm making it a goal to one day train with you in person!
