John Danaher explains techniques and strategies well. He also does a great job of showing techniques from multiple angles so you can really see how they are done.
Immediately able to use the concepts
Danaher is gifted at explaining positions, transitions between, the why, common mistakes, and what the opponent is attempting. This video is really well thought out with different guard concepts and positions. I’m only part of the way through the instructional material. I’ve been able to take what I’ve learned and immediately apply it to my own jiujitsu. I rolled with a really good advanced white belt who competes regularly early and is in his early 20’s. I used the Danaher concepts from his guard system with 4 points of control, identifying defensive vs offensive cycles, jeopardy point, and basic physical movements. My training partner was trapped in my closed guard for almost 5 minutes of a 7 min round and made a comment about how good my guard was that he couldn’t break it.

Excellent video!!! I have purchased several of Professor Danaher’s videos. Like each instructional, I approach it like a college graduate course. The guard retention instructional was presented in a clear, organized and methodical fashion. I took detailed notes and watched the entire 8 chapter video over a period of several weeks. I have been able take the lessons from this instructional and transfer them into real skills. My confidence in my bottom game has increased. Thanks to this video, I even find myself “shadow rolling” and visualizing the different positions I may encounter. I have already seen improvements in my ability to retain and recover the guard position in a very short amount of time. Thank you Professor Danaher!!! I appreciate your knowledge and wisdom.
