  I’m a 140lber in a 185+ gym, so I’m often stuck playing bottom game. This redefined my view on half guard as “half-passed,” and gave me several extra tools to come up on top (occasionally).

  This was the first video I bought on BJJFanatics. As a 62 year old purple belt it changed my entire perspective. Never once , in the last 13 years did anyone ever say, “dude… you can’t do BJJ like these young 220 pound guys”. And then I saw this video! It shows how to adapt with techniques an older or smaller person can actually do effectively. I highly recommend it. BJJ makes a lot more sense to me, now. The greatest benefite, I’m not getting tired anymore. It also gave me a great benchmark in regards to deciding what new techniques in all areas will suit me. It’s a game changer.

• A great intro and practical road map into the world of half guard

  It’s been fun and educational drilling some of the techniques on the mat with my son. I’ve been able to initiate some of the basic setups in live rolling which is a confidence booster and I feel as an older 44 year old beginner this course has helped give me a boost and saved me some time and frustration on the mat in my upstart period.

• simple game plan that works

  I am pleased with this purchase overall. If you have used the insiders club you'll recognise atleast half of this instructional and have confidence in the closed guard element. My only downsides for this instructional is that for the price there really isn't enough content, I know it works but it feels a lot like Bernardo has gone on too many tangents about the same transitions, and camera angles aren't great either. But I'd 100% recommend atleast the half guard game, but perhaps the best way to access it would be via a month of the insiders club.

• Cant go wrong with a Bernardo instructional

  Bernardo is a great teacher because he teaches his own game and all the details that made it work at the highest levels as well as what makes it work for old guys in the gym. His game isn't predicated on flexibilty or athleticism and he covers every single response your opponent can give you with a simple counter. Implement his game and all your opponents may know what you're going to do but none of them will be able to stop it
