In my opinion he is one of the best instructors you can buy. His overview of the positions, the moves thenselves and the breakdown is one of the best. Always worth the money and he delivers with this dvd.
Really good foundational video series. Lachlan is a fantastic instructor. Thanks for including the part about reducing back pain during armbars. Lol
lachlan is the gold standard for the instructional videos in 2022. this one is really packed with information and details. i will never regret the time i spent studying it.
Lackland Giles is the most technical guy out there. He doesn't have size and strength and he submits the biggest guys competing on the highest level and teaches you how to do the same. His techniques are broken down so well that if you have a question, rewatch the video because it's likely you missed it the first time. I also love the live rolling video after each technique to show you what the techniques look like when actually rolling. You can't go wrong with Lachlan Giles' instructionals.
Great instructional. Clearly explained techniques, the chapters are well organized as well.
ALWAYS TOP NOTCH, VERY DATAILED CONTENT BY PROFESOR LACHLAN.
Great as usual from Giles.
I love the way Lachlan breaks down the techniques, his attention to detail is brilliant. Since purchasing this my arm lock finishes have increased tenfold just by know how to counter their escapes. I would highly recommend this to all levels.
You can immediately see the time and effort spent by Lachlan Giles to organise and develop this instructional. He has clearly thought about what material should be included, the structure and how to best teach the included material. Techniques are taught for the GI (e.g., grip breaking) and No-GI. This instructional provides a thorough coverage of the straight armbar with the first two volumes teaching you how to complete an armbar against a resisting opponent, including an initial teaching of the armbar from mount, guard and the belly down armbar. In the introduction to the armbar he appropriately assumes that the student is new to the armbar and therefore these initial versions are taught with less detail to make it easier to commit to memory and avoid the student being buried in the detail. The following three volumes are organised around entries from specific positions including the mount, closed guard, side control, the back, some less common entries (i.e., kimura, omaplata and 50/50) and the half butterfly. The final three volumes focus on techniques, including closed guard head arm, mount cutting armbar, shoulder crunch, choi bar and the open guard, and choi bar from a top position. The instructional has a total runtime of 11 hours and 32 minutes. In my opinion Lachlan Giles is an excellent teacher of BJJ. He is easy to understand, clearly explains and demonstrates the techniques. Importantly he teaches not just the technique but also the likely responses from the opponent and how you should deal with these reactions. One inclusion that I appreciate is the addition of some narrated rolling around particular techniques. This provides the opportunity to see the challenges to applying the technique to a resisting training partner who knows what you are attempting to do. There is a big difference between teaching a technique with a passive often smaller uke than compared to exposing the technique to a more dynamic environment. From my perspective as a student this is both fun and instructive at the same time. Most of the instructional has been filmed with a fixed camera. The quality of the video is excellent as is the range and sound, which when the quality of the video is compared to many other instructionals is near perfect. If only all instructionals had the same quality. A neat extra is that the name of each chapter is displayed on the bottom right side of the video, which is useful for navigation. The available previews are consistent with the whole instructional. In summary, this is a high quality and comprehensive instructional teaching the straight armbar. There is good coverage of the choi bar, which is generally not covered in other armbar instructionals.
Lachlan always puts out quality content. This one is no exception. I've been on the mat for 15 yrs. Teaching is my full time job. I watch a lot of Jiu-jitsu, mostly for the little details that different instructors focus on. Some real armlock fire from our Australian friend here.
Lachlan Giles always produces excellent content for a great price. Tremendous attention to detail in this armlock series. Highly recommended.
As all Lachlan instructionals he takes a subject, and gives you about every possibility that can happen. The finishing mechanics in just the beginning is worth the $
Huge fan of all of Lachlan's videos, think his are the best bang for your buck, so picked this one up a while back. Great resource, didn't dive into it head on like I have some of the others, more of a resource I find myself coming back to regularly to look at details/scenarios that come up in training, so far all of which he talks about in the video.
Lachlan Giles is straight up value for your money. This man puts out comprehensive and gigantic explorations of many positions, the armlock in this case. I've been working this instructional for months and months now. It is dense! High value and amazing instruction for the money. I have bought many Lachlan Giles instructional's and am always happy with them.
Picked up on a daily deal. Great attention to detail and worth getting.
