As a beginner, I have struggled with getting stuck in defensive cycles and this has helped me turn the corner.
His teaching is very philosophical
Get the instructional and soak up all of the knowledge John has to offer. This one's a game changer!
The most high percentage ways to escape the counter from Mount, side, n/s, back, knee on belly. He throws in some of the updated leg lock details compared to his first enter the system instructional. My favorite parts were kipping mount escape to heel hook, getting out of the back triangle, proper side escapes, and psychologically of pin escapes on you and opponents.
John Danaher is very good at explaining the main principle behind the pins, which is super useful especially to a beginner such as myself.
I watched this entire instructional 3 times over. There is so much to take away from this, escapes and attacks from virtually every position you can be stuck in. This philosophy of attacking directly after your escape is such a simple concept and is shown brilliantly throughout this entire instructional. Well worth the money.
Don't waste years of your life stuck under side control. Learn the mechanics of pinning from the mastermind and gain the confidence that will leads to non-stop attacks.
Effective escapes, communicated in a good way. Highly recommended.
Witout a doubt a prerequisite for anyone who wants to do NOGI. Something you can refer to over and over again, over months and years. Whether to use as a tool for drilling, calrity in central problems, or even if you want to refine your attacks offensively; you need this instructional. Can not reccomend this instructional. One of my peronal favouites and one of Johns better ones, which is saying something.
As a white belt, I often find myself pinned but johns philosophy of quick counter attacks has really helped me. The video is also really good for helping to understand how to get out of pesky body triangles.
This is a comprehensive video of Danaher's philosophy of escaping as well as detailed explanations on how to escape from various pins. I saw a BJJ Fanatics video from their YouTube channel of Gordon saying the reason people don't attack all the time is because they don't know how to escape bad positions. For me personally, that made a lot of sense. I never attack, I'm just always trying to defend. Since watching this video I've gotten a lot better at escaping and even when I can't I at least know where I'm failing and what I need to work on.
This is an excellent instructional. Having come from a more traditional background where I focused on escaping to a neutral position, I am now embracing the concept of maximizing instead of satisficing. Thank you for the perspective change!
Very detailed, as I expected, and extremely useful
John's teaching style prefers concepts over specifics which makes it easier to learn. Positional escapes are usually not everyone's favorite topic, but absolutely crucial to development along with guard retention. This instructional has made me more confident in going for submissions because I know if I miss I have a good chance of escaping a bad position.
Awesome instructional from Danaher with new take on escapes and counters.
The best instructional any beginner or veteran can get. Helps you understand the concept of jiu jitsu in a simple but effective way. Highly recommended to any beginner.
Definitely worth every penny. I learned so much and wish I was taught this way when I first started BJJ. You get tons of content, escapes from like 6 different positions usually with counters. He covers clamp position, shows you how to control your opponent there, and details on how to submit your opponent from the clamp using several different submissions. Of course he shows you how to escape into the clamp and how to escape into tons of submissions. I even learned a few more positions for leg locks. Tons of value. It is the best instructional I have ever watched
great instruction
Had problems getting out of mount till this instructional! Professor Danaher breaks it down to the core details to help you not only get out of mount but to turn it into offense
The Escape Series from Danaher is Gamechanging
Frankly this should be required learning for all students of BJJ
This video is really helpful and helped me think about actively counter attacking as soon as I’m out of a pin. I really like John’s style of teaching and it has been incredible to add these into my game and see my submission attempts increase as I am always looking for a way to chase a sub even in an inferior position.
Being able to comfortably assess escape from less than optimal scenarios and still being able to provide an offensive pressure is exactly the mind state I was looking for.
This is a great instructional that shows how to never let your opponent feel comfortable even when they are in a dominant position. You will always be a threat if you follow the principles taught in this series.
I'm fascinated by this instructional it an incredible view into the mind of one of the best jiu-jitsu coaches
