Great instructional which not only helps explain techniques but explains the main principles behind the moves shown.
This instructional is amazing. I bought it because a lot of white belts matches in competition in my weight class get to the ground by guard pulls, so I wanted to broaden my knowledge about the position. Even without being able to drill the moves explained in the instructional in advance, I could already apply most of the techniques I studied in this instructional during sparring sessions with resisting opponents. Amazing, I am so happy I bought this one.
Fantastic instructional by one and only mr Danaher. Every move, position and action is explained so clear. I doubt there is anyone that can go into such a great detail as professor Danaher. Recommendation.
Great video, really improving my closed guard game
I don't right reviews at all, but this deserves one. As others have said, just learning the side scissor is worth the price alone. I have had this for 1-week and in every class (4-total) I have used side scissor to take the back on white to purple belts. This helped me also hit 3-clock chokes during line rolling, going from side scissor to back to clock choke.
Closed guard is still my weakest position. But I have lot's of ideas now when I get there.
As a teacher, I know a good teacher when I see one. Good teachers have the ability to distill the complex into the simple, and that's exactly what John Danaher does in this closed guard treatise. I showed someone who knows absolutely nothing about BJJ a snippet, and they were immediately intrigued. "You can tell this guy really knows his stuff" was their response. The clarity and framework with and in which concepts are presented allow you to start becoming in short order a source of vexation and exasperation for those who find themselves in your closed guard.
This video has made an immediate impact on my BJJ. Mr. Danaher has a very logical and thoughtful approach to instruction and is very effective in communicating the nuisances of technique that I have been missing. I certainly can't claim that BJJ suddenly 'makes sense' to me at this early stage in my training after watching this video, but I at least know where I need to try and be. I am certain that as I improve and get more mat time, I can re-watch this video and find different points to take to training. Highly recommend!
This DVD has got to be essential in any jiu-jitsu student's arsenal. Professor Danaher dives deep not only into closed Guard, but all the types of guards from it. Then he investigates the best controls for sweeps and submissions to guarantee success.
This is one of the most detailed closed guard instructional I've ever seen. I've been years getting frustrated because my moves don't work, but this video showed me how to fix the mistakes and make me BJJ better.
You can easily reac a point where you assume you have squeezed all the juice out of closed guard, until you watch this. As usual detail, precision and explanation absolutely on point
I loved the guard and I was upset on fighting to keep the guard. Whether your legs are short or long you will learn how to maintain a closed guard. I was overwhelmed at first but this helped. I even drilled with a ***** and now people hate my Closed guard.
John Danaher’s instructional videos are a class apart. The level of detail John goes into has really helped me hone my game and have a higher success rate from closed guard. As an older practitioner, having solid attacks from closed guard is, in my view, priceless. Thank you, John!
As I’m working through the Go Further Faster series, this is the one that has helped things click better for me. As a beginning Jiu-Jitsu student, it’s encouraging to retain more information. I particularly enjoy the level of detail that Mr. Danaher uses to explain the various techniques. He’s also helping me to expand my vocabulary as I find myself looking up a lot of new words! Thank you for providing great instructional content!
Very detailed
They say closed guard isn’t popular anymore but it still feels good for this blue belt to know all his options.
Extremely helpful.
Throughout my short time training I have been able to use a lot of these techniques
John Danaher's depth of knowledge and easily understandable instruction make this one of the best, if not the best, closed guard series ever made. Everything is broken down simply and effectively. No matter what rank you are, there is something to be gleaned here. This is an investment not a one time deal. Implement these techniques and the mindset therein, and you're jiu jitsu game will advance leaps and bounds.
Spectacular video. Very detailed, everything step by step. Prioritizing the control of one's own body and that of the rival above all things. I don't think there are many people who teach like Danaher does. Amazing
The depth John breaks theory down into, is incredible. highly recommend
this really helped me improve my closed guard

John Danaher is the best with good reason. This instructional is easy to understand and has really helped my closed guard game.
The counter to the counter to the counter! Stay many steps ahead of your opponent with this one!
