I purchased this as it mentioned deep half and was starting to love deep half. I wasn't really interested in all the dogfight content and it was mostly dogfight. However, after watching the tutorials dogfight slowly became my number 1 position I work towards. I now love playing half guard and this instructional tool dogfight from something I thought was for athletic people to something I can easily do as a bit older out of shape dude. This is by far the most influential instructional on my game to date and really helped my on my journey to purple belt.

Disclaimer: I have never considered myself much of a half guard player- my background is in wrestling/MMA rather than traditional BJJ, but I still found this course very helpful and informative. I especially liked how in each section, Lachlan spends some time on troubleshooting and fixing common mistakes. I probably won't ever use half as one of my primary guards, but I'm now much more comfortable using it as a recovery/counterattacking position against someone passing my guard.

Sets a standard for instructionals
This was the first instructional I ever bought originally as a purple belt. The degree of organized complexity is amazing, with a structure that allows you to get both general concepts and insane levels of depth. Looking back now, still one of the best instructionals ever, though does not have coverage for some of the more modern approaches (e.g. half-butterfly). Since this instructional, I've purchased almost every one of Lachlan's subsequent instructionals.
An Encyclopaedia of Half Guard
I decided to focus on building a half guard game after a recent comp and this instructional came widely regarded as the best place to start. It does not disappoint! Very thorough and covers really good guard retention tips, recoveries and places to transition to other guards. Lachlan is an amazing teacher and technician and this instructional really helps cover the tactics of different moves and positions and when and why to go for them. Would recommend!
