I found this guard retention instructional very helpful the small details an the overall concepts really opened my eyes to develop my knowledge & skills in retaining guard
Excellent!
J.D never disappoints! Great details and great philosophy.
Learning the rationale behind each position or move as well as the technical detail that you need to be successful at accomplishing such moves has been tremendously helpful in the early stages of my BJJ journey. Doing specific training and rolling is great at my gym but seems to lack the fluidity and more importantly the know how that is required to not get easily frustrated in the early stages. Danahar does a great job breaking things down systematically so you roll smarter not harder!
Broken down well and easy to follow . I’ll be hoping to apply it to my learning
I actually got this before the Pin Escapes Instructional and did not appreciate it at first. But after I got the Pin Escapes and rewatched this instructional, I was able to grasp the concepts that John was teaching. This Instructional and the Pin Escapes are a must for beginners.
This is a must have for all belts. Nobody can compete with John’s attention to detail.
Amazing as per usual from Danaher, but I think this is more useful for blue belts and upwards. It's a lot more conceptual and I've found the more beginners think about guard retention the more they struggle. I would reccomend the open guard one is this series first. But it's always amazing value with Danaher
Systematically easy to understand. core concepts and principles are so accurate and easy to grasp. Suitable for beginers and advanced fighters. couldn-t recommend enough!
I have a handful of videos from BJJ Fanatics and I can say this is definitely one of the best. The breakdown of concepts and when to switch between offensive/defensive is extremely helpful for the when to try a specific move.
Outstanding instructional. John Danaher provides esoteric insight into how to retain one’s guard, as well as reestablish the guard should your opponent begin their attempt at passing. In addition, he provides you the requisite moves to drill to help prevent an opponent’s attempted pass and strategies on how to go on the offensive. Well worth every penny.
This instructional is very helpful and useful. Very tecnical, detailed, easy to understand and practice. The content is excellent. This video is a really game changer :top:
Excellent
This video has allowed me to understand how to keep people in my guard as well as how to pass people’s guard. I highly recommend this video for anyone starting BJJ.
Well thought and structured! Loved all the concepts and the way they were explained.
This dvd gives you everything you need to improve your guard retention. The theory of guard retention alone has improved my game greatly. Also, liked the retention methods for different passes your opponent might use. Worth every penny.
This was one of the best instructionals that I have found to date. The theory of guard retention was very helpful. If you are new to the sport this is a game changer.
Is a must have for beginners.
I wish I would have had this instructional from the first day I started jiu jitsu. I found myself saying wow I wish I had known that a long time ago. My guard retention keeps getting better way better as I keep focusing on the conceptual approach the videos cover. I am also working on guard retention from the specific forms of passing that is covered in the later sections. This is the best guard retention instructional you can buy. Danaher breaks jiu jitsu down like no one else.
Very clear and helpful
if that is your thing, you'll love it. If not, it'll feel like it drags.
This video is awesome. Very detailed. John Danaher is an amazing coach. He is explaining in depth all the concepts to defend your guard. Just been working on this. Already seen improvement in my guard. Thanks bjj fanatics
Chocked full of invaluable information. If you’re the type of person who likes a principle based approach or needs to understand the entirety of something before you feel comfortable with it, this, and all of Danaher’s instructionals, are for you.
Amazing Video! An in depth look at things I thought I knew, but I didn't know ****.
Lots of drills to assist in guard retention.
