great!
goodjob
great video
Danaher is gifted at explaining positions, transitions between, the why, common mistakes, and what the opponent is attempting. This video is really well thought out with different guard concepts and positions. I’m only part of the way through the instructional material. I’ve been able to take what I’ve learned and immediately apply it to my own jiujitsu. I rolled with a really good advanced white belt who competes regularly early and is in his early 20’s. I used the Danaher concepts from his guard system with 4 points of control, identifying defensive vs offensive cycles, jeopardy point, and basic physical movements. My training partner was trapped in my closed guard for almost 5 minutes of a 7 min round and made a comment about how good my guard was that he couldn’t break it.
As always, Mr. Danaher dissects the open guard in great detail, not only showing many techniques but also explaining the concepts behind them. There's so much to digest in this DVD that it's going to take me years to completely absorb all this knowledge! Highly recommended!
I purchased the Open Guard video after studying the Closed Guard video and I'm so glad I did! The strategies offered in both videos really compliment each other. I highly recommend purchasing both videos.
Danaher does his usual, amazing thing here, explaining jiu jitsu broadly and deeply. He is so helpful with the Open Guard which is one of the most important areas of jiu jitsu, and one of the most vast areas of jiu jitsu. John's brilliance and expertise are particularly helpful here.
great
Professor John Danaher offers THE open guard formular and techniques for any level and scenario. It is about cross collar and sleeve as guard to attack with sweeps and upper body submissions ss well as using collar snd sleeve to transition to other open guard positions to sweep. The greatest benefit for myself is utiizing the collar and sleeve whenever it is very busy and chaotic to choose my path. Highly recommend this matetial and approach!!
been training over 2 years now in the gi and the topic of openguard seems like its the biggest one. so much to choose from and all the additional sweeps from each guard makes my head spin. this helped me narrow it down, would highly recommend it!
I discovered the Go Further Faster series as a blue belt, it would have been great to have them at the very beginning. John Danaher's approach is very pedagogical, he explains the reason techniques works and goes into a lot of details. The main advantage is the selection of the moves: John Danahers shows with techniques to focus on first.
I wish I had started my bjj journey with this, John is great at explaining the concepts, dilemmas and solutions to open guard play
Awesome
After 11yrs he’s showing me details I never learned. Worth every penny!
I think what I love most about this DVD is that you learn a strong overview of all the different guards out there. This can take even the most novel beginners and turn them into an expert of the subject, granted they study the content efficiently. I would recommend this to anyone interested in learning about open guard.
As a white belt open guard positions have been difficult to navigate. JD breaks it down so well.
I know these are often a bit more expensive that some other Instructional’s but they are generally longer and with more detail For me all from the Go further fast series are awesome
The longer I do BJJ, the more I appreciate the breakdowns that John does. He makes me realize how much information Im missing on every topic. Definitely recommend this instructional!
I have several dvds from John and this one is my favorite. I've changed my guard game through the years and open guard seems to be my favorite nowadays. John explain everything you need to know about open guard with many details. I highly recommend this one.
Amazing instructions! This instruction is worth paying the price 5 times
Excellent detailed information as usual.
The thing I initially liked about this video was that it focused on open guard to address each of the four main scenarios you would face. But then once I got to the section on "the default guard"… It completely changed my game. This one section was like a complete system that I could put into practice immediately, and completely levelled up my game. I keep coming back to it again and again, would recommend it to anyone
Im a hobbiest black belt and always looking to improve my BJJ and this video is helpful.
Filled with great information!
