Learned Some Useful Techniques
As Sakuraba isn't so good in English, he teaches the video speaking Japanese and it has to be translated by another person in the video. This makes it somewhat tedious to follow along but they made the best of it. You have both Craig and Bernardo asking questions and digging for more details and they uncover a lot of wisdom from Sakuraba. But just FYI, Sakuraba is a catch wrestler and his techniques have a more offensive orientation. He's not gonna mess around going for control positions the same way a BJJ fighter would emphasize this. He's looking to submit his opponent a lot more quickly and so his takedowns transition into submissions almost immediately.

Kazushi Sakuraba is the F*cking Man
he's legendary and was ahead of his time during his amazing run in the 2000's. It's cool to hear about his theory put into practise from his amazing catch wrestling style. If you can impress Craig Jones with your technique and knowledge of leg locks and submissons you know you've stumbled across something special. This is a hidden gem and really underappreciated. Worth the purchase.

Sakuraba has always been one of my favourite competitors to watch, but it’s been hard to find pure technique demonstrations from him with English details. This short video instructional from BJJ Fanatics uses Saku’s translator, along with the inputs from Craig Jones and Bernardo to help breakdown his ways of approaching common positions from his wrestling background.

Sakuraba has a unique style. This is because he has a Catch Wrestling background. He has proven that his style works at the highest level of MMA. there are small details that differentiate his techniques from traditional BJJ. When he demonstrates his techniques you see that they are effective, when Bernado or Craig asks him a question, such as what if….. Sakura always has an answer without hesitation. An answer that makes sense and one that solves the problem. Sakuraba covers single legs and counters, as well as timing and entries. Sakuraba also shows the details that made his chokes so effective, small details that makes a difference. Sakuraba explains the advantages of only having one hook in, and why this is his preferred method for taking the back. I don’t want to make this a long drawn review, it suffices to say that the rest of this digital download continues in the same spirit, with Sakurabas unique approach to the game and the same attention to details. I recommend this product, as it has the potential to change the way you think and the potential to elevate your game. Sakuraba made an impact on the world of MMA when burst onto the scene, and this video shows you why.
Kazushi Sakuraba's Catch Wrestling Techniques
This was easily one of my favorite intructionals on BJJ fanatics. Craig and Bernardo did such a good job picking Sakuraba's brain and it was cool to see them learn some of the intricate differences between Catch Wrestling and BJJ. In this instructional, you will see the various techniques that Sakuraba's learned from his various teachers and influences from over the years. You can see some Billy Robinson techniques throughout and even Satoru "Tiger Mask" Sayama's wrist lock routine at the end. Very fun stuff and well worth the purchase (if anything, it's underpriced). Also, shout out to Sakuraba's freestyle wrestling coach, Shozo Sasahara who was a gold medalist in the Olympics. Billy Robinson was proud of his student Sakuraba but he always gave credit to Mr. Sasahara for Sakuraba's success as well.
