I've owned this instructional for years. It's probably been the most impactful instructional I've ever owned. I come back to it at least once a year. This should be called "Straight Ankle Lock," which would make it super en vouge these days. Please, please, please, Charles Harriott, give us Leglocks 102 or 201; I want to learn more from you!
Great introduction to leg locks and the hows and whys often not mentioned in other leg lock videos. Nicely detail oriented.
Thanks for effective and efficient technique!
On point. Step by step.
Charles doesn't just teach leglocks in this video but he explains how to safely and effectively learn how to engage in leglocks for practice and sparring. I think this is mandatory learning for anyone who wants to learn the Dark Arts of Leglocking!
Very good details on positions and submissions. Gives drills to supplement what he is teaching.
Great Intro. I've Charles teach in person. He's a great guy.
Leg locking seems simple but it actually requires some good foundation.
Five Stars for the safety aspects. Some the leglocks stuff is getting ridiculous. I got injured by a dingbat white belt in a gym where it was not allowed during a drill. Spaz. Be real explicit and unless you are getting but to do BJJ catch a release. Heel hooks are idiotic, you really cannot top for the pain. Pressure but the margin of error is too small. A ton of people are injured. Trying to tap in time when some idiotic is cranking on your heel is not likely. Your "partner" will not be able to stop their momentum.
The best entry to this topic for everyone.
I attended a class by Charles at a Globetrotter camp, which impressed me so much I brought him to my club for a few seminars and my own Artemis BJJ camps. Once this instructional came out, I bought it immediately. Since then, it has been the foundation of how I teach leglocks. So if you're looking for an articulate, concise and safe introduction to leglocks, look no further. Leglocks 101 is the gold standard.
Top instructional to begin and improve leg lock game
Outstanding introduction to leg locks. Charles gives drills and step by step directions on safe ways to begin teaching leg locks to your students or to learn on your own if you are a lower belt
Charles is a great instructor. I've taken many of his seminars. Very technical but easy to follow. Look forward to more of his work. :)
X marks the spot!
this video is amazingly helpful. improved my leg lock exponentially
Very comprehensive introduction to leg locks. He’s an excellent instructor.
If you are new to leg locks, this is a great instructional that covers a lot of foundational things to get you going!
Title says it all - great basics for those uninitiated in the leg game
very thorough and accessible approach to grapplers new leglocks
very good introduction to leglocks for beginners sets a good base of instructions to get submission and defend submission without getting injured
C. H. provided an excellent series about how to get into leg entanglements. How to dominate in a controlled manner and how to finish. The safety tipps alone a pure gold!
This tutorial's main emphasis is on using the leg log techniques safely. The author places a focus on strategies that can be applied to IBJFF competitions. The majority of the techniques concentrate around a straight ancle lock. In addition, a sizable portion of the exercises are given as phases of a game between two players that are developed progresively. I highly recommend for all levels.
I’m an old school grappler… in my generation dean lister was the only legit source (gokor started later with the instructionals). A different world. This instrUctional is the best starting point for those who never get into the leglock ststem
Bottom Line: I'm a 46-year-old gi guy, and this video is soooo useful. Buy it. I got this on Daily Deal, and it is worth every penny and more. He is basically teaching an IBJJF-legal ankle lock. You will tap soooo many people with the lazy foot lock. But beyond that, he gives the basics of a couple of control positions. He also has some drills, so if you're looking to teach it to a class, there's good stuff here for you. I've basically been getting so much use out of the lazy foot lock from ashi garami (spelling, sorry), that I haven't even dived deep into the inside sankaku (spelling, again) part of the video. The vid is short and straight to the point; no useless b.s. I bought this a few months ago, and I've been recommending it to everyone. If you pay full price for it, it's worth it. If you get a deal (or a double deal) on it, you're winning.
