  I really liked Nicky Rod's body lock series. I also have Gordon Ryan's. Ok, I spend too much on tapes! Nicky Rod really brought out some key details that I've not seen elsewhere. One thing was his careful distinction between 2 on 1 leg control vs. half guard. I also liked Nicky Rod's detail on the sprawl from body lock to get rid of a butterfly hook. I've been using body lock for several months now and have been struggling with people getting underhooks. Nicky Rod gives a solution to this and to what to do about frames on the face/head. Gordon Ryan's body lock tape is also very good. There is much more detail in terms of alternatives in Gordon's treatment. Gordon also shows himself rolling and explains what he's doing which is helpful. If I were just starting out in body locking, I would start with Nicky Rod's product. One final point, Gordon's training partner is much better looking than Nicky Rod's!

  I really like the systematic approach used in the instructional. Nick breaks it down by explaining the position, entries, controls, and finishing the pass. There are a lot of details and options on how to make the body lock pass work based upon your opponents reaction. I highly recommend this instructional to anyone wanting to add this type of passing to their game. Hopefully, he does a submission based instructional next.
