Awesome as you'd expect.
Gordon Ryan does it again with Systematically Attacking The Scrimmage: Upper Body Takedowns. If you’re a no-gi grappler looking to build a reliable upper-body takedown game without needing explosive wrestling, this instructional delivers in a big way. What I appreciated most was how systematic and conceptual the content is. Gordon doesn’t just throw techniques at you—he teaches you how to control tie-ups, transition to dominant positions, and finish cleanly with high-percentage takedowns. His focus on scrimmage—the in-between space where most athletes stall or get stuck—is incredibly useful and immediately applicable to real rolls. Techniques like the sag body lock, inside trip, and knee block are broken down with all the detail you’d expect from Gordon, and everything ties back to the broader concepts he teaches throughout. It’s not wrestling-heavy in the traditional sense, so don’t expect a folkstyle approach. Instead, it’s all about control, efficiency, and making the opponent react in ways that lead to takedowns. Perfect for BJJ players who want to develop a pressure-based, methodical takedown game without needing a background in wrestling. Highly recommend this one.

Good structured Instructional. You become an idea from each Upper-Body Positions and you can work on that.
Gordon Ryan’s Upper Body Takedowns offers a no-gi approach to clinch-based takedowns with brutal efficiency. He breaks down grips, off-balancing, and entries into dominant positions with clear, step-by-step structure. Great for grapplers looking to wrestle effectively without the gi.
