Nice little details that I didn't consider before
Kyra is a seasoned competitor and a great teacher. The interesting part about this instructional is that Kyra has a similar closed guard to his cousin Roger but way more dynamic. Roger does stuff that most people can't like his sweeps without opening his legs. He's a super large man so his game is for tall guys. Kyra provides a solid closed guard game for everyone!
Gracie style Guard game is so smooth, Kyra articulates what she is teaching very well. There was a little mic trouble but I hope they fix it for future videos
I love Kyra's concepts. I look forward more to applying her techniques to my style of game as they are simple and appear quite effective.
What else would you expect from this family?
I saw half of the course for the moment and it's very nice. The title of the course is really clickbait (The Gracie Secrets), I was forced to pull my credit card out, and I happily did! Though I was wondering at which point it's marketing or not. The secrets are actually, from what I saw up to now, principles, concepts and way to plan your techniques. I'm not entirely sure that it's exclusive to this course, and I will not spoil them here, but they are good to listen and I will keep them in mind. Actually, I found some details even more interesting, the way she protects her lapel, how she reacts to classic closed guard breaks attempts. Regarding the course, Kyra is very energetic and intense, so we are pulled into following and keeping focused during the demonstrations. I find that there is a very good balance between getting enough great techniques but not having an overwhelming amounts of hours to watch. I'm pretty sure that this course is way enough to become great with the closed guard, by practicing this a lot. John Danaher course go much deeper and it can be great also to have, if you have the patience to watch 8-10h of theory... I also bought Roger Gracie closed guard course and I find that it's very complementary.
Professor Kira Gracie shares her knowledge She is doing some little details a little different which helped me a lot to safe energy and be more effective. Because of her I really understood how dynamic closed guard is already in terms of maintenance. Further more this instructional helped my a lot to finish my omoplata in general because of her variation were you not have to focus on bringing both of your legs close instead you focus more on gaining hight and foucs on top pressure to finish. Also her gripping adjustment and hip placement when she is going for the takedown after her opponent stood up made it work for me too. Highly recommend!
There are key details in this tutorial , its full of great information that can't be found elsewhere.
Easy to understand. Lots of details!
Good instruction and demo
Great instructional presented in a clear and efficient manner. Highly recommend!
I was looking for a closed guard Gi instructional that covered everything: Grips, Breaking posture, Sweeps, Submission systems. The reviews were really good and it looked like what i was looking for but I wasn't familiar with Kyra as an instructor. But I figured I could just return it if it wasn't what I expected. Once I started it, I ended up watching the entire tutorial all the way through because i really enjoyed it. Every time I rewatch a part on something I'm working on, I pick up another tip. Little tips she gives make a huge difference in how my training partners react to my closed guard (how to apply your weight on one side while they attempt to get up 😀, or the grip break on a common frame to get into the overhook attack system). Highly recommend this for anyone working on their full guard.
Professor Kira Gracie shares her knowledge created by her own and her family. She is doing some little details a little different which helped me so safe energy and be more efficient and effective a lot. For example when and how to do the leg switch when someone is in your closed guard and how to get really heavy on your opponents hps and thighs. Because of her I really understood how dynamic closed guard is already in terms of maintenance. Further more this instructional helped my a lot to finish my omoplata in general because of her variation were you not have to focus on bringing both of her legs close instead you focus more on gaining hight and foucs on top pressure to finish. Also her gripping adjustment and hip placement when she is going for the takedown after her opponent stood up made it work for me too. She is very structured and on point. Highly recommend!!
Great instructional by a fantastic guard player!
Easy to follow along, easy to understand. Great for improving one of the fundamental positions.
Good tips to enhance closed guard in the gi
I bought this to see what Kyra woul add to the basic I already know. I didn't expect that there'd be the details that are shown. There's some high percentage moves and Combinations, unsurprising when you spend your life training at Gracie Barra HQ I suppose.
I love the way Kyra explains the techniques, great content on closed guard. One thing that I'd love to see improved is the audio quality. Using a lavalier microphone for BJJ instruction will always create problems.
This series of Kyra Gracie is by far the best video on closed guard. I have seen most of the videos regarding closed guard but the quality of her explanations is second to none. For the type of information you get in this video you would have to buy a lot of material elsewhere. Thanks to this video I have learned how to break down even the sturdiest guys of my gym.
Excellent instructional video. As a senior member of our Black Belt community it is essential that we have a strong closed guard and this video provides the key details you need that fundamental instruction fails to cover. Kyra is clear and does a great presentation.
If you fully want to understand what a great guard can do, Professor Kyra fully details techniques that can improve your closed guard. I've watched the tutorial three times so far while practicing with my uke and my guard knowledge/movements has improved. Professor Kyra does provide a lot of tips/ secrets to improve leverage and positioning and other things. Great video, perfect for all ranks.
Maybe no "Secrets" (anymore) but a great instructional nevertheless. Very good details.
Phenomenal. She demonstrated a variety of techniques I've never seen in closed guard. Definitely worth buying.
The best closed guard instructional I've seen, and I've bought quite a few let me tell you. She's great at explaining concepts too.
My closed guard had became a bit of a hole in my game and this instructional really helped me clean my skills in that position, and add real weapons to my arsenal, and gain a better understanding of that position.
