X guard evolution
I liked the way the dvd is structured, it helped to have a clear view and to find specific parts. The filing was nicely done, angles allowed to see correctly the details.

Best X guard instructionaø
As someone who plays a lot of X-guard and has studied it under many different instructors, I can honestly say this instructional is by far the best I’ve seen. Professor Andy not only breaks down the details clearly but also addresses common dilemmas that smaller practitioners face when playing X-guard, which helped me a lot. I highly recommend this instructional
X Guard Evolution
This DVD is the best X guard instructional I've watched. Andy presents a complete system on entering X guard, controlling, sweeping, and submitting. Highly recommended.
Sharp, Practical, and High-Level x Guard
Andy Murasaki x Guard Evolution is outstanding—clear instruction, crisp production, and techniques that translate fast to live rolling. Andy connects positions seamlessly—showing not just isolated moves but how to evolve your guard as a system. The pacing is perfect—enough detail to absorb without dragging—and the concepts work whether you’re sharpening your open guard for competition or leveling up as a dedicated hobbyist. A must-have for anyone serious about modern guard development.

Amazing course
Like Bernardo, I am a huge fan of Andy and his game! Andy is one of my favorite players, has an amazing jiu jitsu, very efficient and plastic! A big part of his game is the x guard... so that was a no brainer for me... The course is very complete and well structured. Andy covered a lot of ground here... its perfect to start and develop a modern x guard game! In addition to it, Andy explanations are very clear and easy to follow. Tks for everything that u are giving to the bjj community Andy! Cant wait for the guard pass instructional! Osss
Amazing instruction and attention to smalls details

Simple, clear and gamechanging
I attended a seminar of Andy's earlier this year and it changed my game entirely. This instructional has been a great way to review and build upon the concepts covered in that seminar and
BEST DVD EVER
The best DVD ever!! I've been playing X guard and I've been watching dvd's here and there but THIS ONE is the one you can ever get!! Rich in details, very well explained and divided. I do have the "competition" lol DVD on the same subject but this one deliveries. MUITO OBRIGADA! Era tudo que eu precisava para fazer ajustes no meu jogo
Whiteflash
Really well thought out instructional by Andy. Makes a complicated position seem simple. Would definitely recommend this instructional.
Great stuff
One of the best DVD on the modern X guard game. Andy shows his bread and butter guard game. The explanations were clear and concise without the fluff. Picked up quite a few of those tiny details that really make the position work well. Highly recommend it
!!
very good
“The Best X Guard Instructional I’ve Ever Studied
Andy is my favourite BJJ competitor , I knew I had to get this as soon as it launch! “The Best X Guard Instructional I’ve Ever Studied – Andy Murasaki Delivers Gold” As someone who’s been training BJJ for nearly 4 years and has watched many instructional videos online from legends like Marcelo Garcia, Lucas Lepri, I can honestly say Andy Murasaki’s “X Guard Evolution” is on another level when it comes to clarity, technical depth, and live applicability. X Guard Like You’ve Never Seen It The title says “evolution,” and that’s not just marketing. Andy brings a modernized, competition-proven version of X Guard that blends classical mechanics with high-level transitions you see at Atos and IBJJF finals. This isn’t your typical “entry-sweep-done” course. He goes deep into: Clean, high-percentage entries from standing, De La Riva, shin-shin, and even from failed berimbolo positions. X Guard to Single Leg X transitions that are fast, safe, and pressure-ready. Advanced sweeps and off-balancing concepts—how to force reactions to open up high-value targets (like the back). Back-takes that WORK in gi and no-gi—a rarity in many guard-based instructionals. What stood out to me the most is how battle-tested each technique is. Andy doesn’t teach anything “just because.” Every movement feels like it’s been drilled a thousand times at Atos and used in real comp scenarios. Andy's teaching style is clear , detailed and structured ! He is shockingly good at breaking down mechanics. He doesn’t just say “grab the ankle” — he explains why you’re grabbing it, what angle your knee should be at, how your opponent’s base will shift, and what reactions to expect. He layers concepts well: first showing the basic move, then several common reactions, and finally the counters to those reactions. His positional drills are gold: they bridge the gap between “learning” and “applying” immediately. Every section flows logically — you never feel lost, even if your X Guard is relatively new. I was lucky enough to attend the seminar he gave in Singapore, and it absolutely solidified how effective his X Guard system is under pressure. I used two of his X Guard off-balancing setups that night in class and got a clean sweep and a back take. No joke. They just work! My final verdict 6/5 — A must-have for anyone serious about developing their open guard game! Andy Murasaki blends elite-level skill with elite-level teaching. Whether you’re building your first X Guard or refining your sweeps for comp, this is easily one of the best modern instructionals available. I’ve studied a lot of guard DVDs. This one? It lives on my “re-watch monthly” list. Period. If you’ve ever felt like your X Guard was “almost there” or your sweeps weren’t landing, this instructional is the missing puzzle piece. It combines structure with adaptability — the kind of stuff that makes you feel confident pulling guard against anyone!!
Fantastic X Guard Instructional
Andy's my favorite competitor so I rushed to get this as soon as it dropped. I've been playing X guard for several years, but in a very old school way. Was always curious about the modified X and how to play it in a more modern way. The instructional is great. Tons of entries into the X guard. Solid sweeps and submissions. Can't ask for anything more. The best value is all the "little comments" he makes about why he does certain things. For example, it made me understand why modified x > SLX for finishing the ankle lock. You won't regret getting this!
