Amazing instructional
Jason Rau's Dynamic Ankle Locks is a game-changer! His precise technique and fluid transitions have significantly improved my leg lock game, making my submissions more effective and controlled.

Jason Rau
Jason Rau is one of my favourite video instructors. This series is excellent, as are all his other releases. In his usual style, the instruction is fast, dense and deep. It may take several viewings to fully absorb the content, particularly for viewers less experienced in leg attacks. I have been training NoGi leg locks since white belt. My coach is a former multiple time ADCC European Champion (he has a leg lock series here on Fanatics). The ankle lock is one of my best submissions and is a technique I have studied deeply. This release is a focused presentation on a very robust, streamlined system for the shotgun ankle lock. It’s complete in that sense, it shows everything you’ll need, and you’ll need everything it shows. However, this release is not intended to be a “comprehensive” treatment on ankle locks. For example, there is no discussion of cross ankle locks or one-handed variations. I think it should also be mentioned also that the system presented is clearly intended for a particular context. Some of the methods demonstrated to achieve a finish are illegal in some rulesets, as they involve reaping or turning in the direction of the foot not under attack. Also, many of the follow-ups presented for when the ankle lock fails would also be illegal in those rulesets (outside heel hooks & Aoki locks). It’s reasonable to conclude that this set is intended for IBJJF NoGi Adult Brown/Black or ADCC Adult Pro rules, and I believe everything shown would be effective at that level. Despite already having a strong ankle lock game, I picked up some excellent details and insights from this release. I recommend it without hesitation. Whether or not this is the best choice for somebody wishing to develop their ankle locks probably depends a lot on their personal goals. For somebody who is mostly focused on Gi competition, I would recommend Mikey Musumeci’s “Death From Below” instead. Although I have not seen it, “Leglocks for White, Blue and Purple belts” by Jacob Couch and Heath Pedigo might be a better choice for the lower ranks. I would also recommend Jason’s other releases; “Dynamic Outside Ashi: Leg Attacks” is game-changing and excellent complement to this release. I also recommend Mateusz Szczeciński’s “Shotgun Aoki Locks”.
Excellent!
great
Like other Rau videos it's to the point and condensed. No fluff, but still very detailed.
Thanks Jason. Love the instructional. Great and succinct details. Sometimes Jason talks a little too fast, and he also doesn't always get a good camera angle on his excellent technique. However, what he's showing here is just excellent. My ankle locks have never been better.
Jason Rau’s videos are the best value on this site.
