great details on the octopus guard
very streight foward, no much explanation nor concepts. pretty bad audio too. still a great compilation of nice moves of tghe leyend himself
I've got the other octopus instructionals as well. They are good, but i think this is the best. It probably helps if you have a decent understanding of the position first, but this then gives a rapid run through a whole bunch of options.
In spite of funny name, GREAT overview-rapid fire techniques. Easily understandable. Love it!
very good, easy to follow with quick technical info early and a deeper dive later.
It is very easy to follow along instructional, I started using the sweep in my next roll!!
great details
this man makes bjj look too easy. this is a position that I have had wanted to get good at for years. Telles shows the moves several times at different angles. no fluff of talking for an hour while your eyes roll back because of boredom. just the move and what is important to make it work.
Interesting. The origin of the Octopus Guard.
Always enjoyed seeing his easygoing demeanor and artful fluidity!
Easy to understand and practice the techniques :D
Good. Eduardo gets straight to the point with his explanations. Adds some variations to your hame to keep te opponent guessing.
Telles does it again. After watching Craig Jones use the octopus guard on 99% of his rolls, I decided to learn it from the source. Wasn’t disappointed.
Great techniques from an innovator
E.Telles was one of my first virtual BJJ instructors, famous with his turtle/octupus guard techniques. Short and very useful instructional, recommend to everyone who wants to be good at octupus guard.
simple n very effective. can add to my half guard game
I like to transition from 1/2 guard to octopus and have had a good amount of success with the position--Telles really fleshes out the options from octopus guard well in this instructional.
The octopus guard is a great technique to strengthen your half guard and closed guard game. It gives you another path to either sweep or go to the opponent’s back. This instructional is a technique focused instructional and is easy to digest. Techniques are mainly taught for the half and closed guard with the majority either leading to a sweep or a back take. In addition, several techniques are taught to resist the octopus guard. The techniques taught are not overly complex and in my experience don’t require strength or unusual flexibility. The total runtime for this instructional is 40 minutes. Within the limitations of a fixed camera there are no notable issues with video quality (e.g., range, focus, or lighting), however there is a bit of an echo with respect to sound. Eduardo Telles, the acknowledged inventor of the octopus guard, breaks down each technique and clearly explains and demonstrates the technique. I appreciate that he is wearing a blue Gi and his son a white Gi, so it is easy to see where the respective arms and legs are placed. In my opinion Eduardo Telles comfortably and effectively teaches each technique in this instructional. However, given that he is the inventor of the technique I would have appreciated a chapter addressing the development of the technique and a bit of a broader overview before jumping into the actual individual techniques. The product description states that “he shares his unique insights and strategies for dominating opponents using the Octopus Guard in the GI”, however I think this overstates what is actually provided in the instructional. Nevertheless, I believe this is a good instructional to purchase if you wish to improve your half and closed guard (Gi).
I like instructonals like this which are straight to the point and full of techniques it makes it easier to navigate and dip in and out of. the downsides are that the sound quality isn't great and also that there's actually no description or introduction as to what the octopus guard actually is.
love the techniques . big fan of Eduardo telles game.
Great instructional from the Godfather of the Octopus guard. Well organized and concise instructional
A to-the-point instructional on Octopus guard in the gi. No fluff or fillers - just straight up info. This style of instructional works for me!
Shot well with clear instructions. Short and sweet fun to drill with all the counters.
Shot well, clear intentions and to the point. I attended one of Telles’ seminars in person as a while belt and remembered about 2%. But being able to come back to this instructional has helped. Would definitely do both now. Having a load of counters making it fun to drill with teammates. Short but sweet
Detailed and easy to comprehend
