great instructional, a must have
With this instructional you will get a great gameplan to escape from Side control. I love the teaching!
Survive - defend - escape - attack. Andre Galvao developed a great instruction about how to behave and act when you are in side control bottom. He offers an excellent breakdown of all different kinds of side control. Based on that you will get specific sets of techniques for each kind of side control and each stage of progress of beeing in side control and getting attacked. You get escapes and guard retention and escapes straight into submussion attacks. A. G. explains with great detail and easy to follow. He provides a great understanding of jiu jitsu overall explained via side control top and bottom for self defense and sport! Highly recommend!!!
Galvao is building an awesome, successful team and it’s not hard to see why with this instructional. Excellent details and techniques that will improve your escapes no matter what level you are at. You can never spend too much time on side control escapes :)
This is seriously good!
Great instructional already applying concepts on the mats
A great instructional with many details about framing and escaping side control. I find myself coming back to this one frequently to address areas I'm having trouble with
Andre Galvao is an excellent and passionate teacher. I have used this when I was a whitebelt. I was told to always wait and learn and thats when I wanted to go to the next level. Thank you BJJ Fanatics and Andre Galvao for making this. The Kipping motion was new to me.
It help me a lot to learn side control escape! Amazing instruction . I
Having trouble in side control? If so, this instructional is just what you are looking for.
Andre provides a good overview of many fundamental side control escapes.
Good
This series has definitely helped improve my chances of escaping and re-attacking from side control.
Very simple and easy to understand.
Great Content! Very good teaching methods where he walks you through the basics and shows how to practice each move and then covers more advanced techniques after you have built your foundation. Lots of content. Highly recommend for anyone tired of being trapped in side control.
Very detailed instruction that goes over both what to do and what your opponent wants to do.
Great details! Love it!
Amazing
Great In depth explanations. Addresses multiple possibilities with each move.
Great intructional dvds!
Great and comprehensive overview of all aspects of escaping side control - and switching these into attacks. Broken down into clear steps, clear demos from all angles. Useful to anyone practicing bjj, whatever the level
You can have the best submissions in the game, but if someone can continues to pass your guard and submit you. This is what you need, this instructional is fantastic as a older brown belt practitioner at 49!
Objective Andre states that this instructional has been developed to teach: “defensive strategies from the side control position so that you can develop a better understanding of fundamental jiu jitsu.” Content Volume 1 (1 hour 40 minutes long) covers: what your opponent will want to do when they are in side control top to effectively maintain control, with Andre highlighting better practice from the top position; the framing system (forearm and shin); recovering the guard using the framing system; a basic guard recovery from side control when the opponent defeats your frames, obtains a cross face position and you are unable to use your arm frames and instead your recovery is made using your legs; a recovery from a cross face position primarily using your arm frame; a recovery from cross face using a underhook to their back; and again from cross face, an underhook escape in combination with a low single leg to reverse the position. Volume 2 (1 hour 5 minutes long) covers: an escape from cross face using an underhook to enter a darce choke from the bottom side control position and multiple escapes from the Kesa Gatame position with options leading to submissions e.g. an armbar or omaplata. Volume 3 (1 hour 12 minutes long) covers: three escapes from Kesa Gatame where the opponent has applied a headlock; an escape leading to a back attack when the opponent has both of his arms on the far side of your body; and five escapes from reverse side control. Volume 4 (1 hour 33 minutes long) covers: five escapes from north-south often leading to a submission and a very useful section (28 minutes long) about surviving side control bottom. In the surviving bottom section Andre states that it is going to be hard to escape and he provides advice on what you need to do e.g. aim to build frames, move and recover the guard; noting that it may not be possible to recover the guard immediately so there is a need to be patient and conserve energy; often your opponent will make space when they are transitioning or moving to a submission; how to protect your body on the bottom; how to move to create space; etc. Definitely a useful section for anybody that spends time on the bottom in side control. Andre is an excellent and confident instructor. As with his other instructionals that I have purchased he speaks clearly, is engaging and knowledgeable. His style is to teach holistically, in that he does not just teach the technique, but rather he teaches the strategy, the details of the technique, the likely responses from the opponent and your suggested responses. In many of the techniques he teaches a follow-up offensive technique. As you would expect techniques are demonstrated at a slow pace and then finally, he demonstrates the technique at speed. In my opinion Andre effectively coaches you through the subject matter adding tips as he goes. Sound and picture quality are good, however there are a couple of occasions where the focus is not sharp. The angles of the technique displayed are appropriate. The total length of the instructional is 5 hours and 30 minutes long. There are other instructionals that teach more techniques to escape from side control, but this instructional teaches much more than the techniques. It is long, but I found that Andre can keep you engaged. If you need to improve your ability to escape side control, then I believe that this instructional will certainly help. This recommendation applies to both Gi and No-Gi players.
Thanks for fixing my order.
Awesome! I highly recommend all his videos.
