  It might seem a little hippy-dipy and new age in a modern sense - but this separates your jiujitsu understanding, and efficiency without using strength, and if you're going to learn it - learn it from Henry.

• Good info

  As usual, Henry makes things conceptual and gives the techniques to back it up (or is it the other way around ?) I really really like the uke trying the moves and Henry adjusting and correcting. This format should be encouraged and it's much better than the silent yes-man uke that we are used to seeing. It is pricey, but it's top notch info and the delivery of the said info is very conducive for learning.

• Develop a deeper understanding of concept of connection

  This instructional teaches the concept of connection and disconnection. To teach the concept Henry Atkins uses a series of techniques to explain the concept and its application. He chooses the unusual approach of firstly demonstrating the technique with the aim of teaching the techniques to both the audience and his uke, with the aim that the uke can then demonstrate (i.e., B-Roll) the technique to personally experience and understand the application of the concept. The only other time I have seen this done in a BJJ Fanatics instructional is with the Daisy Free Curriculum instructionals with Heath Pedigo teaching his ukes and in my opinion this was useful for many reasons, but importantly Heath Pedigo could clearly see where his ukes were having difficulties and consequently provide further guidance. I assume the assumption is that viewers may also experience similar issues. Perhaps this approach makes the instructional longer, however for me it assists to better understand the concept and the techniques being used to illustrate the concept. The total runtime for this instructional is 3 hours and 49 minutes. Gaining a deeper understanding the concept of connection and disconnection (i.e., killing connection by changing angles) should assist to understand why in a roll, some techniques work and others not. Additionally, I found the deep dive into the techniques was useful. Finally, within the limitations of a fixed camera there are no notable issues with video quality (e.g., range, focus, or lighting) or sound.

• connection is essentially what you think it is

  I'm a bit disappointed with this one, which is a shame because I usually love Henry Akins' instructonals. also as others have said it's very expensive, I think even in a sale it's not entirely worth it. It's essentially how to generate power using your body and the importance of keeping contact intentionally with people, it's nothing ground breaking, and at times can seem a bit BS. I feel like these are things you could work out for yourself. One thing I do like is the B roll elements, as these help you to see that the techniques don't just work because Henry is a lot bigger.

• Essential Information

  The idea of connection is essential in effective jiu jitsu. Everyone uses it, but understanding it an learning to consciously use it well has made a huge difference in my rolling. This instructional effectively digs into the topic. the information is great. Deducted one star because, even with solid information, it's over-priced.
