Easy and effective implementation.
Foot Sweeps, Ankle Picks and Tripods Engineering by Adam Wardzinski
This is a massive part of Adam's game if you watch any of his matches and it's not a surprise when you see how effective it is for yourself. Adam excellently instructs techniques here which can be implemented immediately and effectively. They are the sort of techniques that bring a lot of joy from visibly frustrating your opponents. A lot of joy has been had as a result of this one.
Gold!
One Grip To Pass Them All: The Z-Grip Passing Concept by Waldo Zapata
Waldo Zapata was a BJJ genius! As a para-athlete I have often struggled to pass guard and maintain certain positions and for this reason I would have recommended the z grip to anyone, it has instantly improved my game in difficult positions and improved my ability to play a better inside game.
Conceptually brilliant
The Head Pressure Passing System by Matt Jubera
The concepts and techniques in this instructional has instantly improved my game development and understanding of my aims in certain positions I usually get stuck in, ie: quarter guard. 100% recommend.
Helpful for aims and goal setting
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Requirements: Purple Belt 2.0 by Roy Dean
After getting my blue belt, it's been quite difficult to gain an understanding of what specifics I should be aiming for even eventually, even from speaking to my coach it's been difficult to nail things down further than just to dominate on the mats. I have found this instructional helpful in helping me to navigate this problem better and also given me an idea of where my deficits are knowledge and game wise in the barriers to me seeking to complete the activity set out in this instructional, which is one thing Roy does very well. I would recommend this to anyone stuck in a similar position to me, it will improve your way of thinking about the next steps.
Really clear and easy to follow and help pick up concepts
Judo Gripping Systems For BJJ by Fernando Yamasaki
As someone with very limited judo knowledge, I have found this instructional very helpful in helping me understand more of what I should be thinking about and looking for. Very pleased.
Really clear and helpful techniques
Modern Guards Re-Introduced Bundle by Adam Wardzinski
I've mentioned in previous reviews that I really like Adam's direct approach to teaching and it's no different here. Due to these instructionals, I've been able to start introducing and implementing techniques to my game that I'd previously thought were out of reach for me as a para-athletes. I think this bundle of instructionals is excellent.
Straightforward defences that work
Don't Be Finished: Edging Yourself Out of Danger by Craig Jones
My submission defence was definitely a gap in my game, apart from initially just avoiding them (not always possible) but the principles from this has been helpful in improving this for me. Plus Craig is a great instructor which really helps.
Excellent and direct to the point
Butterfly Guard Rediscovered 3.0 by Adam Wardzinski
This is a clear instructional containing enough details to be effective without overwhelming you with information. Helpful for understanding key details that are easy to have previously been misunderstood. My butterfly game has instantly become better thanks to Adam.
Brilliant and detailed
A Daisy Fresh Take On Arm Bars by Chad Hawkins
This instructional has helped to instantly improve and correct my arm bars, which I was already becoming more proficient in anyway, but this has made them even better, by helping me understand the importance of fundamental details I'd previously missed or glossed over.
Excellent and full introduction to half guard
Half Guard: BJJ Fundamentals - Go Further Faster by John Danaher
Half guard is a fundamental part of my game and is effective for me, largely due to this instructional that I frequently find myself revisiting among others for key details that I may have missed. It's definitely worth it for a well rounded half guard.
Good just don't expect too much
It's not entirely clear from the title what this one is, but it's essentially Alan's approach to guard passing, it makes sense and you can see how it's effective but not massively detailed, and I was hoping for more submission options that can be set up from the guard pass as this is what I thought the instructional was about. But it is good, just not fantastic in my opinion.
Really good instruction
Fundamentals & Offensive Closed guard by Alex Smith
This is a really good one, it's clear and easy to implement. It's clear Alex is a Roger Gracie black belt, as he's fundamentally brilliant and this instructional is very easy to follow and implement whilst being very effective too.
Absolutely excellent
Gracie Fundamentals: Side Control Escapes by Rayron Gracie
This instructional has made a huge difference to my game when it comes to how I escape side control, knee on belly and north south in particular. I often find myself coming back to this one. Everything is very well instructed and practical.
Really enjoying this one.
The Active Guard System by Tum Energia
I've watched some of Tum's YouTube stuff too and he's a really good instructor and he shares a large component of his game here, you can always understand when and how to implement what he shows owing to his excellent instruction. I'd recommend this one to help enhance anyone's game, especially if you are unsure when it comes to a game plan from closed guard or with some pressure passers.
Excellent instruction and aims
The Daisy Fresh Curriculum: White Belt Bundle by Heath Pedigo
I got this when I was a white belt and still find myself revisiting this and using it as a blue belt. The way Heath instructs is excellent and effective, it's really helpful seeing common mistakes corrected too. And it's good to see a different kind of game and seeing how things can be implemented into your own game too. Small details also mean that you will be able to enhance a lot of your current game immediately too.
Really fascinating approach to bottom half guard
The Flat Half Guard by Jonatas Novaes
It really is a fascinating way to play bottom half guard when you have been flattened out, rather than trying to escape or find an under hook to become offensive again, here your given some alternative techniques to implement, with lots of practice. Although there are also some helpful details that can be implemented straight away. Really enjoying this one.
Distance Passing
Distance Passing by Igor Feliz

Best stand up instructional
The Ultimate Takedown Series Volume 1: Gripping & Kuzushi by Travis Stevens
I've purchased a few stand up instructionals now, including from Judo fanatics, but the level of useful details in this one is perfect, it's aimed perfectly at BJJ practitioners with little to no information. Genuinely fantastic with achievable goals for developing an effective stand up game.
